d-null 04-17-2009 04:22 AM

isn't charging money for addons or themes for OS software kind of lame? :helpme

Jdoughs 04-17-2009 04:28 AM

Most of these premium themes blow the doors off anything anyone in adult is capable of doing.

Studiopress (formerly revolution themes) are off the hook too, they focus a little more on the CMS aspect (much like the mag themes above). http://www.studiopress.com/

Worth the money definitely.

that videoflicks is pretty impressive, does it support youtube embeds?

TyroneGoldberg 04-17-2009 05:58 AM

no reason to pay for the first two as you can get a very similar theme for free

bloggerz 04-17-2009 06:14 AM

nice themes

selena 04-17-2009 06:17 AM

Bookmarking all the above, as I am in the market for a good premium theme.

Simon_Spicecash 04-17-2009 06:34 AM

I bought "fresh news" from www.woothemes.com and love it, very quality theme. But they also have some awesome free ones available now. Using their classic news theme on a few blogs now too. That being said, I've noticed that CTR is generally lower on those "CNN style" themes...seems surfers get a little cluttered. Similar, similar traffic, similar ads, and CTR is statistically lower than on a more conventional blog theme, with 1 sidebar and a bunch of posts on top of each other. Could just be coincidence though, dunno.

looking good

Yes it does, two plugins are coded exclusively for the theme.

Quote:

Simple Video Embedder adds a widget to the posting screen with fields for inputting URLs to videos on popular video sharing sites such as YouTube and Vimeo. The plugin can automagically generate embed codes for many video sites, but also provides a manual embed code field for unsupported ones.

sites supported:

youtube
metacafe
vimeo
viddler
revver

as well as .flv and .mp4 videos

Simple Post Thumbnails adds a widget to the posting screen as well. It provides an upload form to upload an image to use as a thumbnail. The plugin will crop and resize the image to the correct size for you so you don?t have to open up Photoshop every time you want to post a thumbnail for your posts. The plugin also has another field to input a URL to a remote image which gets downloaded and cropped, making it even easier.

this isn't a knock on OP

#1
http://www.darrenhoyt.com/2007/08/05...heme-released/

as for #2 can't find it at the moment.

if you're paying find a free one and then donate to whoever made them. it looks like people take the free themes, twerk them, then sell.

That theme isn't even in the same league as any other one posted here. It does look alot like the top one though, agreed.

I guess you would just have to use one of the others to understand, they are certainly not just copies of overrun ideas. Most use unique functions and a combination of ajax and other scripting to make themselves very user friendly.

I'm looking for someone that can set me up a handsfree political blog pulling in rss news seo'd out with a couple ad zones.

NinjaSteve 04-17-2009 07:53 AM

I think the first three look the same.

I would, but my backlog of wordpress work is about 2 months right now.

Sosa 04-17-2009 10:57 AM

Point taken. All I see is the design and not what's underneath.

PussyMeister 04-17-2009 11:12 AM

I like the WP unlimited. Can you still get to the code and css to make changes, or is everything through the cp?

PornMD 04-17-2009 11:41 AM

WP Unlimited does look nice - though the free theme Atahualpa is very customizeable as well (and my favorite free theme for that reason). WP Unlimited does look a little bit easier to customize though.

Agent 488 04-17-2009 11:48 AM

one of those is just what i was looking for. thanks.

Horny Dude 04-17-2009 11:59 AM

Will definitely look into getting the Video Flick one. Looks good for a wordpress tube site. Thanks for the link fris, as always!

TXXXTN 04-17-2009 12:12 PM

Good stuff ...I'm always looking for well done themes!

myself, i hate the CNN style things because they dont flow my eye through them well, its just sensory overload and i dont know where to click or what to do.... too many options can be a bad thing, and busy web designs confuse the mind.

collegeboobies 04-17-2009 01:22 PM

Some very cool looking themes

TTiger 04-17-2009 01:31 PM

some cool heme , ive bookmark the 1st one :)

those don't do too much good for seo or in the serps, as the republish rights tos generally only allows you to use the headline and link your surfers straight to the news sites, so you end up basically with a splog of sorts, and I wouldn't count on google being very nice to splogs

if you have some other idea that I am misreading here, feel free to correct me as I am curious, but again, copyright and tos of the news sites makes setting up a decent seo'd site with the intentions of good treatment in the serps pretty difficult...... I would even stay away from the idea thinking of the risk to a domain's status in the long run :2 cents:
