I'm in one of the three test zones they have for their new tiered pricing system.

We're going to be the first to get their 50/5 connection which will be uncapped at run $99 a month.

I'm counting the days.

I think that system has many business risk for Road Runner.

The tiered pricing opens a door way for competition to compete on just one of
their tiers.

For example :

RR makes a $39/month 3000kbs upload plan. (in addtion to other plans up to $100)

Now some company that couldn't compete with RR's full sevice can now compete
at that speed and price.
The other company has worked out some deal and they are now capped at 3500kbs but
the deal allows them to offer a $29/month 3500kbs upload plan.

That's $10 less and 500kbs faster!

In our area, no one can compete. The DSL speeds just don't cut it.

The 50mbs/5mbs system will be nice, I don't care what they cost...until there's something faster, they'll have me as a customer. I'll just cancel my cable subscription and download more. :1orglaugh

News this week has the most expensive RR with Turbo Boost at $150 for "almost" unlimited download capability.

The new super duper high speed package doesn't seem to have any caps but won't be open to everyone. I got on the list, so no worries here.

My connection here is about 60 kbps ... Over 10 time slower then my cable where i was before.

I recently ordered a "high speed" ADSL service, had heard from some people that they were syncing at 20Mbps+ with this ISP, then discovered that my local exchange only provides ADSL1. Limited to 8Mbps with a shitty 384Kbps upload speed. :(
