SKY HD Users (UK)

I just joined Sky HD very impressed so far, im watching Blades of Glory right now on Sky Comedy and it looks amazing. But is it just me or do sports look like shit? Watching the tennis earlier and some football highlights there is lots of motion blur?

Manowar 04-15-2009 11:44 AM

The sports they upsample from other providers in some cases, the football that sky themselves cover normally looks pretty awesome.

The new EPG coming soon looks fucking vomit-tastic though

Not sure about Sky yet, but ITV HD is great for watching Champions League!!!!! BBC HD is excellent too. Dr Who ove the weekend looked awesome

mattyboy 04-15-2009 12:29 PM

One little tip. Where you can't get ITV HD on Sky, you can now if you have the new EPG but its needs adding manually as a new channel.

I'm only on FreeSat. Just press red when watching any live footy on ITV had it should transfer you to HD. England Internationals too.

We are holding out. We have Sky+ but only one real HD tv so are going to wait until we really need to switch. If it has dropped that much this year it will come down a bit again.

Nah i have one of the best 50" plasma's on the market, the Pioneer LX5090. I think its more to do with certain settings being misconfigured.

I wouldnt bank on it, it took normal sky 4 years before they offered it free. There is currently no competion to Sky HD they would be shooting themselves in the foot to offer it for free. It wont be long until it goes back up. If its the money you are worried about then i would get it now or you will be waiting a long time.

I have a friend that works for Sky in a fairly decent position and he doesn't think it will go back up but more that they will phase out normal Sky plus all together.

When I lived in London 12+ years ago I used to have sky and loved it.
So how much does it cost these days if you want all the movie channels and HD?

Here for DishNetwork with 3 HD dvr's and the everything package plus all movie channels and HD its around $140 including taxes....

Thanks! Have you seen the 60" versions? They are out of this world and the prices are lowering all the time, i think if they hit £3k i would be tempted. Pioneer are stepping out of the plasma game soon as well and they are hands down the best plasma makers.

Btw if anyone is interested i have a panaonsic for sale this model http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/pro...IC-TH-46PZ82BA, less than a month old with 11 months warranty. It was in my gym which i have barely used lately so it hasnt had much use at all. I will sell for £600.

I think im paying £55/month thats maxed out, which gets you the SD channels plus 33-35 in HD.
