holy fuck, is that a joke? Does that guy really speak in public like that? "tryin' to come down here and tell us how to run Texas..."

The guy sounds like a complete retard. I say let those fucks break off from the Union. They'll either go to war with Mexico or dissolve into fractious city-states inside of 10 years.

Well, actually I somewhat support what they are saying. On one hand states should have the right to spend their tax dollars how they want. Then on the other hand I think in most cases federal laws for "Rights" tend to be a bit better.. (when you are talking about conservative states it's all the more important)

The problem is states like Texas, Florida New Jersey,New York, Cali and a few others all get the shit end of the stick. These states Residents all pay more taxes in, than what they get back. Meanwhile these states are supporting states like Alaska which has no sales tax or state tax yet gets back over 2 times as much from the Federal govt compared to what is paid in.

In short it's like welfare for states. You have one group one paying more taxes and group two paying less taxes and getting back more. The funny thing is, the ones in group 2 tend to be Conservative Red states with the exception of Texas. Yet it's typically the people in those states that cry the most about federal welfare, meanwhile they live in welfare states.

This idea of "red states and blue states" is complete bullshit, a state can become red or blue based on 1 single vote lol.

sperbonzo 04-14-2009 03:04 PM

I wish Florida would go the same way. We need to get out from under the Federal Government. They're out of control.

Zebra 04-14-2009 03:20 PM

Funny, didn't hear much about this while Dubya was in office.

Daniel-CG 04-14-2009 04:12 PM

This has nothing to do with any one administration it has to do with the general movement by the federal government to take over states rights. From what I understand from most of the people in both parties is that they are tired of the expanding federal government. No matter how in-articulate the gubnuh may be, these are the points they are trying to make. Here is a copy of H.C.R. 50 so you can read what exactly is being stated. From what I understand there are quite a few states that are presently drafting this kind of legislation. What most of the states are tired of are the laws and resolutions that say you will take this money from us and do what we tell you to do or you will pay the consequences. The funniest thing about this is that their are donor states and there are states that are the welfare states which receive more than they put in. The donor states are given their money back and are told what to do with it, this would be like your bank telling you that before you are allowed to withdraw your money from our bank you must spend it on something that would be beneficial to us. There isn't a single one of us here that wouldn't tell the bank to :321GFY Go Fuck Yourself!

I don't believe it's about secession, that is just sensationalism of what would otherwise be a valid complaint. Take that part out of it, and that is what America is really all about and what made us respected throughout the world. We created a government where we could voice our opinion without fear, now we have fear about voicing our opinion to the government and those of differing points of view. Additionally, those that voice an opposing opinion are branded as traitors by their peers and are labeled as trying to create a secession or some gay shit like that. This is why people like yourself in other countries are having a heyday talking shit from afar, because we forgot who we are. Personally, I don't blame you, I would too. Here are these people who created something great and tried to spread it around and now they can't even keep their focus long enough to make it work in their own land. These are our growing pains and we will figure them out as we go along, but this is without a doubt a step in the right direction. It is being done peacefully, and with respect toward each sides point of view and with the utmost respect being paid to our most important historical documents.

Naw, we need more guns!!!

We've been closer before. For example, the race riots of the late '60s.

Yes that was indeed closer, and itself only monkeys rattling their own cages. If there is a civil war it won't be so much race related. There are far more white monkeys now. :2 cents:

Since a few asked for it, it would be nice as a CA resident if we could cut the rest of you off. Ya we pay higher taxes here, currently are pretty broke, but fuck it - we do not get our fair share of tax dollars in reimbursements from the fed (we pay in more than we get). Plus our economy leaving would pretty much fuck the United States credit, export power, etc.

That's an urban legend.

Texas hasn't been an independent republic since they were annexed over 100 years ago.

Texas has no more right to secede than any other state.

However, Texas may be divided into five states, which would increase the total of senators representing the state as well as increase the amount of electoral votes over the number for the single state.

So what is this special tax he is talking about? I read the link to the resolution and it really says nothing. They are talking about tax increases. Is he talking about the tax increase that Obama will be putting on people earning over 250K a year or something else?

femdomdestiny 04-14-2009 08:54 PM

oh my god

I think these guys simply don't know what are you starting and how this can end.I saw this shit in my country long ago....

StickyGreen 04-14-2009 09:03 PM

Damn this board is full of the dumbest motherfuckers in the world, you guys can't even comprehend what this is about. Texas is not "seceding" from anything, they are simply reinforcing the 10th Amendment as have MANY other states lately, because yes, even if you are still in denial about it, it is true that the federal government has been overstepping it's boundaries for years now... and people are actually starting to do something about it. It is a resolution telling the central government to back the fuck off.

LOL

Of course the taxes help pay things for the federal govt, that's a given. If you actually read what I wrote instead of being so fast to call the idiot, maybe you would get the point I was making.

Let's take Texas and Cali for example here. Both states collect and pay in far more taxes than say Alaska. Both states Cali & Tx have either a state sales tax or state income tax on their residents.

Meanwhile, a state like Alaska has no state sales tax, and charges no state income tax, for the most part taxes are only collected from big business, letting their residents get a free ride. Yet this state still gets back of two times what it pays to the Federal govt.

Meaning the people in Texas, Cali, Florida and all the other states that don't get back their 100% are flipping the bill. These very states are all having budget problems and cutting spending for things like education and various other things that serve the very people whom paid their hard earned tax dollars yet they don't see it returned because it goes to states like Alaska that can't pay their own way.

While of course I understand there will always be a situation like this, but there is no excuse that the residents of states like Texas, Florida Cali ect..ect.. should be paying more taxes per person while a state like Alaska lets their residents get off scott free and still gets double the tax dollars back.

This is what those Right wingers all love to screem and shout about when it comes to welfare, yet when it's their own state that is getting welfare then they never say a word.

Would SuckOnThis say the same about the other states that pasted the same resolution. For example, CA TN, MO......
