Mutt 04-14-2009 11:13 AM

thanks for the try but it doesn't tile correctly and you softened the creases more than i would prefer.

yep, no cigar - thanks for the try

possible from that source file it can't be done without basically creating new artwork almost from scratch.

Nope. :) Used a tried & true method of making seamless tiles.

Voodoo 04-14-2009 12:02 PM

Used Filter -> Other -> Offset

There are many tutorials on how to do it this way out there.

Here's one...http://graphicssoft.about.com/librar...aa080499p2.htm

Deej did the hard work on this one so if you wanna pay someone for that tile, feel free to send it to him. He did the tile matching, I just did the offset filter and patched the seams.

nice job and gesture - so i will pay Deej the 20.

so what steps did you go through - i totally forgot about the offset filter but doubt it would have helped me.

Deej what's your Paypal address?

First, make it tile / match up properly WITH a seam, just so it will match the lines etc... and everything looks right but might have a shadow seam.

Then divide your height by 2, and the same for your width. In this instance...
240x180 = 120x90

Go to Filter -> Other -> Offset
Horizontal: +120
Vertical: +90

This will give you a + crosshair across the middle of the image.

Use your paintbrush or stamp tool to patch the seam with samples from the rest of the image that match the area you are patching.

Next... Run Offset again and look at it. Sometimes there are some edge discrepencies that need a little more patching. Just clean those up. Run Offset one more time and it should tile properly.

That's about it.

Nice. Learn something everyday!

I just did it pretty much using the warp brush.

ok - but how much of the original image did you select for the original tile before you used the offset filter etc?

Mutt 04-14-2009 12:23 PM

it's a very cool texture/pattern - it's like the upholstered leather walls and booths you see in lounge style bars.

On this particular one, Deej did the matching of it, but looks like he sampled around the center of the image, just slightly to the left. If you overlay the tile on top of the original image near the center and move it slightly left you'll see where he got the sample from.

It was funny, because I just did a pattern just like this but in black only yesterday.

Mutt 04-14-2009 01:12 PM

i want my money back!!!

ha - i just did it with the offset filter method and it was so simple, hardly had to do any patching/cloning.

kidding of course about my money back
