Investment opportunity - mainstream

Mainstream entertainment with more or less guaranteed return,

the original investor is from Europe, has all the equipment bought already, and would take someone from US as a partner, as he wants to run it also in US and would have a hard time to get through all the paperwork required (permissions, insurance, etc.)

He would tell you more about finance / expected returns etc.

If interested, please drop me a short mail at:

carl.borowitz (at) gmail (dot) com

Many Thanks

Can you post more information?

Phil 04-09-2009 08:19 PM

more info would be nice.

CarlosTheGaucho 04-09-2009 11:35 PM

It's actually a "reverse bungee jumping" (I hope I spell it right), I'm a bit afraid something like this needs a lot of paperwork and a good location.

But I also believe you have very much guaranteed return.

After Shock Media 04-09-2009 11:41 PM

So in essence a human slingshot. Which I do not think is unique as I seem to recall them from somewhere.

Forget paperwork. Aside from good location, I also expect a shit load of insurance since everyone in America is lawsuit happy. Also do not see how this would be a guaranteed return, even if you found a way to make it travel with the fairs.

Of course then there is the issue that I just do not see people spending money on something like that in todays economy. People really do seem to be buying stuff that has multiple uses for the dollar - hence video game sales and such.

On the other hand, he has a place with this in Vienna, and made the whole investment money back in 16 months - which is not too bad.

I believe I heard there was someone trying to do this in Vegas, and made about $ 8 mil. before he forgot to split with someone related to "state" and got banned permanently.

Bullshit sells.

Maybe it was vegas where I saw it. Seriously doubt anyone got banned from doing one for not split something, unless they were doing something illegal and got shut down.

Fuck me, just checked. They do have them at standard fairs it looks like. Then again they have been around for more than a decade. Just seems to be most popular in NZ (place of origin) and the UK.

Well, it's the state who decides if they did something illegal..

:winkwink: if carnies can run one, nobody is going to make much cash without a fucking dream location.

Um, yes...

By more information, I was hoping to get:

- A full explanaion of the business model
- A little background on the owners would be nice.
- Does he already have a location? If so, where?
- How many locations are you starting with?
- Franchise possibilities?
- Is it in a high traffic area such as a fair? Can I see it on Google Earth?
- What is the cost of the location? Is it a rental? What are the licenses required?
- What are taxes like? Has the market been tested? Is there a competing business nearby?
- What is the general business plan? What is the cost of labour?
- Insurance, Insurance, Insurance?
- Who are the other investors?

Thanks in advance!

It is a carnival ride in essence, the partner (you) would secure US location's. As for his side, he can answer those questions about his location/venue.

actually that sounds really exciting, like a thrilling amusement park ride.

2MuchMark 04-10-2009 12:54 AM

I have tried reverse bungy before. They are great, and REALLY scary. They have a big one here in Montreal at 6 Flags / Laronde. They charge about $60.00 per person for a 5 minute ride. I think the ride costs $5.00 to operate for 5 minutes, and $55.00 per person in insurance. Still - FUN!!
