Ipod question

I am trying to import some of my personal CD's to my iTunes library so I can add it to the iPod. When I use store bought CD's it lists the songs on the CD then asks if I want to import it. Very easy. Not so much with my own CD's which are made up of MP3's. I saved them as data so I could get more on the CD. Is that the cause of my problem?

I just drag and drop the MP3s into iTunes, works ok.

Also if you want to just put it on the iPod and skip adding it to your actual library, just open up the music section of your iPod and drag all the files to the iTunes library there, will skip adding it to your library and go straight to the iPod.

Thanks. Wish I had asked earlier before I packed.
