Here are 4 ...(skip first 40 seconds)

Who comes to mind in your area?

Ian Shelter. a 80ish Sacramento band that was a hell of lot better than Telsa

L.A. based

Stealer = early 80's metal, Singer Ron Keel went on to be a CW singer.

Black & Blue = early 80's metal , would sell-out 300-500-1500 seats when ever they played. Singer Jamie St. James co-wrote a bunch of Kiss songs w/ P. Stanley. Guitar player is the current "Ace Frehley" named Tommy Thayer

The best of the bunch , in L.A. that never made it out, is a Band called London , they where huge in the early Glam scene. Nicky Sixx's first band, amongest many many more of those dude's who started out in London and went onto other bands. I think London is actually still together in whatever form, playing "retro Glam" nights around town.

it's a huge surprise these people didn't make it big

~Ray 04-08-2009 08:08 AM

I couldn't find a full clip of the group Tablet , but they got screwed by their record company and never made it big.

I could only find a sampler of their album "Pinned"

1st 2 songs are great..

So funny you mention them - I was just reminiscing about them the other day and listened to a few songs.

Saw this thread and had to post one of my favorite local Baltimore bands... Dog Fashion Disco. They had their last show a few years ago and dissolved for all the reasons bands normally do. Lack of large commercial success was on of them. They had a metal, jazz, hardcore fusion sound with lead singer Todd Smith laying down some uniquely diverse vocal talent. Offen compaired to Mike Patton. Check them out and their new band if you like hardcore with a melodic and sometimes sadistic flair...

The lead singer and guitarist of DFF went on to start a new band called Polkadot Cadaver...

I just picked up their CD Polkadot Cadaver - Purgarory Dance Party. If you want to hear a hardcore indie album unlike anything you've ever heard pick up a copy. Badass!

GrouchyAdmin 04-08-2009 01:08 PM

They used to be local. The Gone Jackals.

Just in our neck of the woods. Head east towards Syracuse and you're likely to find people who've never heard of them.

~Ray 04-09-2009 08:09 PM

how about Chicago , Atlanta... no good music there?
