What was the industry view of TGP Galleries - 5 years ago?

I was just looking at a bunch of TGP galleries today... Clicking and clicking away... And I was just wondering (as I wasn't in this biz 5 years ago) what was everyone thinking when all of these galleries started popping up everywhere?

Were they looked at as changing the industry?
Or were they only looked at as positive promo?

They certainly changed things I would think.

7 years ago im pretty sure sponsors did not have fhg's or it was just starting, so figure 5 years ago we were saying we have hosted galleries means 0 cost for BW for you

also positive for sure

See all the threads about the tube sites today.. and that pretty much sums up what was being said about tgps/mpgs back then.

Five years ago it was movie galleries. And the industry opinion was "they are destroying the industry with free porn."

where's that post from 2002 about TGP's... interesting read. Things sure change but always seem to stay the same

Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?

TGPs are nothing compared to the full length tube sites. Mere samples. However you show a site like tube8, etc to a surfer they will never (except in ultra rare circumstances) be a buyer of porn again. Why would they?

Legal tubes with full length movies are fine. The illegal ones that use stolen content are the issue. Pure theft, using the works of other for profit without permission.

Thats the issue. This industry has always thrived on new content. People always want to see new. When production of porn ceases to be profitable, production will stop. As has been noted many of the porn valley studios have reduced production by 50%. A few have ramped up production only to see failure to monetize it.

The tube model should be profitable enough to pay for production of content, right? :pimp

Yeah, sure, no money in TGPs.......... Well, does all that traffic on tube sites pay? I think in the last couple of years some serious effort has gone into monetizing the tube sites...

Still TGPs, blogs and everything else can be money with some smarts or in my case luck.

The surfers dont care, nor would they document what they think of the industry, because all their interested in is free porn good enough to skeet to.
