It would seem that Windows has finally got the ads out that PC people have wanted for years.... Mac's are too expensive!!

In the first ad, the lady walks into a Mac store with a $1000 budget and guess what, they only have ONE laptop for her, with a 13 inch screen.

With the same budget, she instead gets a 17 inch screen an HP laptop with all the features she wants.

Mac nuts aren't too pleased with the ads... I wonder why.

These ads make the PC out to be just a "cheaper alternative".

So the whole campaign will revolve around 'macs are too cool/pretty/expensive for me' idea?

Wouldn't that make people want / feel curious about macs even more?

17 inch laptops are useless in my opinion. I have a toshiba qosmio and regret buying it. My new dell 13" is powerful and I can just plug it into a 24" screen when I want to do graphics or watch a movie. 17 inch laptops are too heavy for moving around etc.

Apple does not have to lower prices, they have a different business model then PC makers and thus can keep their pricing power.

I guess all the people driving Ferraris' will wonder if their life would have been better if they could have bought a KIA instead.

I agree, if I'm going somewhere and I need to have a computer with me, I bring my eee 9". My 17" is way too big.

I have both windows and mac laptops and I use my mac for surfing and traveling and my windows one for work related stuff and I don't usually go online with it. Its nice to have a machine that is easy to use(mac) and I don't have to worry about getting a virus from visiting a website, plus when I when im in the airport and its time to board the flight, it takes about 4 seconds to shut down as compared to my windows laptop that takes atleast 30 seconds to shut down and over 1 minute to boot up.

it is also nice to have final cut pro express on my macbook so i can edit when i travel if i want to.

Mac's are like Porsche's, clean lines, precise, fast and mostly owned by wankers.

The only real reason to buy one is for a certain application it has over what you can get on Windows or Linux (like their sound production suites for example).

The only people who even give a fuck or notice how cool you are, are other Mac/Porsche owners.

Fact is, most people want a Mac because of how they look. Ever been locked out of a Mac and tried to recover your way back in? almost impossible.

However you can still get it all done on a PC, no matter what the task. Personally I haven't yet really needed anything on a Mac that PC couldn't deliver for less input and money.

And the only people who use PC and call Mac users fanboys or "think they are cool" are the people who don't understand how a Mac works and just thinks its a fad because they've never used one.

P.S. I'm a windows user... currently.

With regards to hardware, Apple is just using the same parts everyone else uses. You're paying for the Software.

Considering MS is pretty much just a software company, you'd think they would be the first to "get" this.

You're missing the part when Apple grabs those components everyone else uses, and puts them inside a high-quality, solid aluminum & glass enclosure, designed by one of the world's top product designers. :winkwink:

I use a mac and I like the commercial, too many mac fan boys think they're cool just because they use a mac. This ad and the new windows ad got the mac fan boy's panties in a bunch over at another forum.

Oh, I know all about that. I've got a Mac Pro that sits next to a Hackintosh which cost 1/4 the price and has better specs. I'm a sucker. :1orglaugh

For me they are way more expensive than a PC with similar capabilities, such a difference in price should mean more than just a better look.

i love this commercial, the macfags have been raging over it for a while now.

You get a better OS. THAT is what you're paying for. Unless of course, you are willing to undertake a workaround. Pretty much ANY PC can run OSX if you're feeling adventurous.

Hmmm... I've had my standard macbook for a year and three months, as my main computer which I use TOO many hours a day and leave on at night. It's still running fine and it's only really frozen completely on me like 3 times and I use some hefty software.

My friend bought a Dell laptop 6 months ago, he's had to replace it twice. Plus that damn trackpad is the worst fucking clunky thing in the world, the internet works intermittently among a thousand other little shitty problems.

I'm happy I spent the extra $700 or whatever. Well worth not having to worry if my laptop is going to crash on me.. especially when I'm VJing at a show with it.

Just sayin.

i haven't ran spybot since last december, yes i know the reason why macs don't get a virus. the thing is i don't think apple wants the whole market, they make what they make with their 'niche' market.

My Toshiba laptop is almost 4 years old now. I got Ubuntu installe don it, and the thing still runs great. Everything runs nice and snappy. It cost me $1100 years ago, you could probably buy one for $50 at a garage sale now.

Seriously, the only thing Mac has over most PCs is a decent operating system, some trendy designers, and a good marketing team who push the "Macs are cool, and you ar eif you buy one" bullshit really well.

Tell a Mac fanboy that Macs suck and they are not cooler for owning one and they will blow a fucking lid...
