Selling Mainstream Internet Biz $2k+/mo Revenue
 

I'm looking to sell a mainstream project that a partner and I have been working on for the past couple weeks. Its basically a "bot" for a popular mobile phone/Internet game.

We set up the site and did some very basic advertising (AdWords and posted it in a forum) and got a good amount of sales from it, making an estimated $2k a month in revenue (avg $70 per day for the last few days).

Either case, its an easy 1 man show and will take about an hour to two hours of your day but you can make easily between $2,000 and $5,000 a month with some basic advertising. Right now we are spent about $100 on some ads, $9/domain and $6/mo hosting and have made an great return, but just dont have the time to do more.

In all honestly, I'm trying to sell it because I dont have the time to do this (yes, I dont have an extra 2 hours each day, i have a TON of projects going on) and I would rather make a turn around now and loose $$ in the long run; especially since taxes are due :mad:

The process is easy, someone goes to the site, buys the app, pays for it through Paypal, you verify their info, send them a link and thats it. Customer service is very minimal so far, but just basic questions like "how do I save this file to my computer?"

how much has this actually made? how long has it been up?

We have been pushing the new product for 5 days and made $360

The old service (which is no longer active) we ran for just about 2 weeks and made just under $700. The older product was only for a very limited amount of people using the game, which is why we stopped promoting it.

The current one is available to some 50,000+ members (I read thats how many people are active playing online on a forum).

Right now, our only real means of sales is through AdWords, which are coming in on average about 3 to 4 a day with a very limited budget. I haven't posted it up in any of the forums yet and we have a list of over 1,000 members email addresses (that posted it on a forum), but have not marketed to them yet.

We posted the older app in a forum and generated all the sales that way, so there was virtually $0 ad cost :winkwink:

why do you want to sell it if you just can market the software right way and receive much more than $2k monthly in the longer-term?

because im working on this huge project that is consuming about 99% of my day right now, and plus, I have a TON due in taxes next week and need the money :winkwink:

honestly, if I had the time i would market this and could pull in between $3k and $5k a month, but im beat from working 12-15 hour days right now. I tried to hire two people to do this, but both have failed and I dont have time to micromanage anyone else

Come on.. Next time do your taxes quarterly and you wont have this problem.

Its actually been up and running for over a month, but the recent product release has been for the past 5 days and is more automated and easier to get sales from

fyi, the two people I hired: 1) after i told him i would pay an hourly rate, he wanted a commission of 50% and 2) the girl didn't know what she was doing and i was spending to much time explaining to her how to sign up for forums and post then it was worth.

maybe there is someone with half a brain that wants to make a few extra bucks or a commission (realistic, not 75%), but i dont have the time to look.

in all honestly, it makes money. whether its been running for a week or three years, i have enough to gather that its worth at least that amount of money. no offense, but if you were sitting in my chair, you would be asking the same amount knowing its abilities

but its not 2k a month revenue, the thread title is decieving, it *could* make that.

why not run it for 3 months then sell it for larger, at least you will have actual proof

I should of put $70/day I guess, but realistically it can make $2k a month if you do almost nothing like I am right now.

Problem is I dont have the time to work on it for at least the next 2 to 3 weeks... thats if im lucky and finish everything up. I started to work on this as a pet project not thinking it would make anything more than $500 a month, but I was way wrong.

A few people from other forums and sites have interest in buying it, but in either case I will make sure who ever does, I will guarantee they will bring in revenue from the business.

Knowing its capabilities I would either get someone to be in charge of it or put one of my existing people on it. Dont let a great opportunity go to waste.

Ive honestly never done a lot of "forum marketing" or even email marketing, so to train someone else would take lots of time.

Meanwhile, I'm working on a project now (that is a week behind schedule) that is worth 5x my time than this one is, which is why im devoting my day to this other project.

I see the advantage as this... the site makes money, EASY MONEY, and ive been able to prove it. If i can turn around and sell it now for a great price to the buyer, I would rather have the money now and not have to stress about not working on it everyday.
