Anybody here doing electronic repairs?
I've started doing quite a bit of xbox, ipod, DS Lite repairs locally and WOW some of the things people do to these poor gadgets! Ipod repairs have to be my favorite because it seems like EVERYBODY has naked pictures of themselves sitting on them :) SOmetimes this is scary though :(
Other than word of mouth how are you guys getting word out? I'd prefer to stay local on this kind of thing because the online market for this is pretty hard to deal with! |

He just advertises on Craigslist and a few others like it. He lost his job and has been pulling in quite a bit doing while looking for another job while he collects unemployment. |
You can target only your local market with Adwords if you wanted to go that route.

Be careful looking through pictures etc on ipods and such. It's just like if you were a tech working on a personal comptuer and going through files and such. Atleast don't admit doing it.

It's not like I'm downloading pics and uploading them to the internet or anything like that, I'm not THAT stupid. I've been plastering all over craigslist and actually had 3 people drive down from Grand Rapids which is a good hour away! Tomorrow I should have all the supplies for about 100 RROD fixes so I won't have to worry about those damn parts for quite a while! If you guys need some RROD repair kits hit me up! The parts are a PITA to track down sometimes. I have a ton of those XBox opening tools coming sometime and other oddball parts. I have a HUGE box of ipod parts on the slow boat from China right now so hopefully they make it through customs OK, it's a PITA sometimes but parts can be had for cheap enough to make quite a bit of extra cash off of repairs. |
Sounds like a good service you got going.About the only thing I would be interested in doing would be something with my 360.

Xbox 360's can fit in a flat rate box so you can ship them anywhere in the US for just $10 so its not too bad to ship. I just started advertising my services locally and its coming along at an OK rate. I'm going to use my old iamnotageek.com domain and have a promise to have it finished and back out the door within 24 hours with very few exceptions. Top knotch service is the ONLY way to do things. I'm going to roll the xbox stuff out first with the speedy service and once I get a proper stock of ipod parts in I'll offer that online. I'm hoping to roll the site for it out later this week and hit some various online places like some xbox forums once I have the site ready to roll out. |
