Yeah I think its is an amazing tool from what I have seen so far.

This is where we get told it is 'ghey'. I am not sure how much I would play with it on a personal level but for biz it is working well for me. In particular, some of my mainstream sites are eating up the ability to follow my updates on twitter. Multiple accounts and thwirl is making it easy to keep them coming back to my mainstream sites.

Its only ghey to those that cant think outside the box.

Twitter is a great tool, it seems more and more are discovering its benefits daily.:)

this is something I'm going to have to look into. I never quite understood what the point was before.

It is so much easier and quicker to use than say Youtube or other social networking sites.

To be honest I don't have the slightest idea what twitter is, never even bothered to visit the website. The name 'twitter' does sound a bit gay though.

Why is it that any time there is any sort of a social networking or cool new idea, WE, the porn industry, totally fucks it up with spam?

If I was not in the business, I would want to shut us down too. We suck.

I don't spam on it...I think it is far more effective to actually behave by the rules but have people following you for a specific site. For example, I run a mainstream site that is about a particular video game. I put a 'follow me on twitter' link up and people pretty quickly started to follow me. I just twitter now and then about something to do with something I go into greater depth on within the actual blog. Time after time they then go to the blog and read it and click things that get me paid. Also, the feedback they give through it is so instant that they don't even think about having done it. Most of those types wouldn't send me an email but they are tweeting to me and telling me what they would like to see on the site, etc. Helping me better target to them.

I agree that the out and out spam is too much.

It all comes down to time. If your time can be spent doing something else that works better, than it is "ghey"

But if the time you put into it is giving you a decent return, then keep doing it. I just know a lot of people find these new sites and spend a bunch of time on them for minimal gains just because it is new and exciting and a change of pace. I fall for the same traps. You get bored doing what you do on a daily basis so when something new comes along, you spend a lot of time on it and as long as you get a tiny amount of return, you stick with it because it's fun and new even though you may be taking time away from things that actually pay off better.

Twitter definitely has its uses from a personal and business standpoint :thumbsup

Exactly. It works wonders for my sites (mainstream).

Twitter is different--all the obvious cam whore and dating and porn spam accounts get shut down for aggressive following/sending crap link only tweets. Twitter is good at that. However, I've noticed MANY dating/cam/porn profiles still doing well because they have ADAPTED to the format and are getting a good # of followers and aren't banned.

The key is to ADAPT

DirtyWhiteBoy you are correct but mainstream is even worse at spamming on twitter. They picked up on it way before the porn biz did. It was bound to happen with such an easy "tool" to use

The mainstream guys have jumped in on making $$ with twitter. There are sites that pay you for tweeting and place ads in your tweets
