ha, ha... yeah man maybe... but i swear to fuckin god right at this moment i had an ephifony. I actually don't wanna smoke any more... i'll let ya know

Rakie 03-29-2009 08:04 PM

ephifony --> Epiphany.

Besides that, good luck. It's not easy... My father had been smoking since he was about 10, his father would make him light cigarettes for him, long story short, he told him to do it right he had to hold an open flame to it and take a puff or two... Thats how he got started.

Spunky 03-29-2009 08:15 PM

Good luck with that,I tried and tried,I gave up

eMonk 03-29-2009 08:16 PM

i tried 2 weeks ago.. was good up until this weekend :(

TeenCat 03-29-2009 08:30 PM

train yourself to smoke only in pub or at party, once or twice per week, thats a good way :winkwink: btw for me its working like for 4 months or so :winkwink:

Spend some time reading up on the side effects if you're going to go that route PLEASE.

I had some serious bouts of depression on that drug, and "suicidal ideation" is one of the listed side effects.
I know it's worked for some people and great for you if you're smoke free now....but for anyone thinking about taking it, it would be good to not live alone or have other problems going on in your life at the time. :2 cents:

mynameisjim 03-29-2009 09:12 PM

They key is to know you will have a slip up here and there and not beat yourself up over it.

If you break down and smoke a cig or two, just think about it for a minute and move on. Don't beat yourself up or tell yourself it's impossible.

Smoking is very hard to quit because there are virtually no immediate consequences for starting back up again. The nicotine isn't that powerful of a drug, it's just there is really no downside for starting back up and your brain knows it. If you are trying to quit crack or something, usually after a few attempts you think of all the horrible failures, the money you stole, the family you lost, the friends you lost, the arrests, and you quit. Smoking has none of that. Just get over the mental part of it and the drugs hold only lasts about a week.

Quitting smoking is 99% mental, the nicotine is very weak in relation to other drugs.

MindWaste 03-29-2009 09:17 PM

I just was in a instatution for 2 weeks no smoking or fresh air breaks even. The patch worked well and my habbit is about 4 packs a day on a up 24 hours straight oking out side is good for day..

smoking out side is good too.. try to not smoke in your house..

I had not a problem with nicotine withraw but i swear i never get a urge it was all the action of smoking that was imbeded in my head/

papill0n 03-29-2009 09:25 PM

goodluck mike!

Loch 03-29-2009 09:39 PM

i quit a couple of months ago, never looked back :)
Been smoking since i was 13 and 40 a day since i was 18 or so

bobby666 03-29-2009 10:42 PM

i wish you good luck

sumz 03-29-2009 10:57 PM

I managed to quit after reading Allen CarrŽs book. And I was a heavy smoker. It wont be easy, but it will be A lot easier when you realize that cigarettes wont make you feel better or more relaxed, cigarettes will only ease your nicotine withdrawal symptoms.
And non-smokers feel like that always.

sumz 03-29-2009 11:04 PM

"the nicotine is very weak in relation to other drugs"

According to several studies, nicotine is more addictive than any drug. But the difference is in withdrawal symptoms, nicotine causes only very light withdrawal symptoms when heroins symptoms are like hell.

blonda80 03-29-2009 11:56 PM

good luck :)

My wife and I quit on the 3rd of this month. The first week is the hardest, after that it's all discipline.

Good luck ;)

Do you want her to smoke when she's older ? Of course not. So for her sake, give up the smoking, and set a good example.

You can do it !! :thumbsup

tranza 03-30-2009 12:35 PM

Tht is a great decision...go for it...

kowalsky 03-30-2009 01:17 PM

Great man! Good luck!

To quit is easier than you can imagine... youŽll see...

Ace_luffy 03-30-2009 01:18 PM

it's hard to do that

Calico Jack 03-30-2009 01:36 PM

Best of luck, I gave up 15 years ago. Just stopped outright. You may feel lousy for some weeks but after the intitial hump you'll start to feel better. It's worth it and why not squirrel away the money you'll save and treat yourself in a years time? You'll be surprised how much you've saved!

Deesnuts 03-30-2009 02:19 PM

good reason to quit:thumbsup

TeenCat 03-30-2009 02:21 PM

so hows going man? i cant see you here today maybe somewhere shaking in the corner ... ? :) oh sorry just a try for a joke, wish you best with stop smoking! :thumbsup

Double trouble 03-30-2009 02:26 PM

Hey good luck...I quit and I've had a few relapses on nights out with my smoker friends but it's not often enough to call myself a smoker. When I first quit I used cocktail straws to gnaw on for that hand to mouth thing. It's worth a try.

damn that was yesterday if he quit hes a un happy camper by now

Bored 03-30-2009 02:34 PM

good luck, I will be trying to quit myself in a few days. You just need to be ready, mentally. Don't take a single puff or you will just fall back on the wagon

Godsmack 03-30-2009 02:44 PM

My 5 year old son asked me to quit, stopped smoking for 3 weeks and i must say it's pretty damn easy as well..
It really is a state of mind.. if you really want it you will succeed..

kmanrox 03-30-2009 03:06 PM

did any of you weaklings succeed at this?

NicAngel 03-30-2009 03:23 PM

mind over matter! good luck!

gmr324 03-30-2009 03:33 PM

Can't think of a more motivating reason to kick the habit than your kids!

mmcfadden 03-30-2009 03:41 PM

Well I didn't want to post this but broke down around 3:30. I cleaned my entire house... drank coffee all day and felt a bit ill.

I've had two since... better then almost a pack by this time but didn't do it. Enrolled my daughter in her first Karate class today and think I'm going to take some as well.

Smoking makes me feel shitty, nicotine residue on my toungue, costly and I just have to get rid of them.

Godsmack 03-30-2009 04:49 PM

A good friend of mine died past Saturday of lung cancer.. 2 weeks ago he was diagnosed and past away Saturday night.. Another motivation to stop.

I quit smoking 3 weeks ago and i have real short moments were i want to smoke a siggie, but they pass in a few seconds.. they come in real short waves.. but after a week or so they come less and less..

Don't worry, if you can't quit smoking, eventually smoking will quit for you.

Mistah Charlie 03-30-2009 08:25 PM

One word: chantix. Get someone to write you an Rx.

Sarah_Jayne 03-31-2009 04:05 AM

Well done and do it for her as much as for you. I have life long chest issues that weren't helped by being around a smoking parent for so many years.

brassmonkey 03-31-2009 04:10 AM

put up a damn fight mmcfadden dont let it beat you

DiF0r 03-31-2009 04:22 AM

good luck man!

kesha1 03-31-2009 04:24 AM

Tomorrow they rise the price to $7 in cali, so, I bought 3 cartons today ;)

USUALENT 03-31-2009 06:53 AM
