gothweb 11-22-2002 09:17 AM

You'd think, as an ex-pat, I'd have some impressive number. Nope.

USA, Canada, France, United Kingdom, various European airports. Sad.

Nydahl 11-22-2002 09:20 AM

15 or so

Korea, Japan, New Zealand, America, Canada, Australia, Taiwan, Cayman Islands (hehe), United Kingdom, France, Germany, Greece, Singapore

damn only 13.

Oh well I fucking hate traveling anyways. Glad i'm finally living somewhere good again, you have to lower your standard of living if you go through most of Europe :( I'm talking about living there not visiting. Europe rocks for visiting just not my choice to live.

hershie 11-22-2002 10:05 AM

Jakke PNG 11-22-2002 10:14 AM

Hmmm... lower standard of living in Europe? I live in Germany and also lived in the US for a while and I wouldn't say that the standard of living is lower or higher here. I guess it just depends on how you define standard of living. If you want to be surrounded by palm trees then Germany wouldn't be the right choice :)

Take, for example, Japan. I really love Japan and I am there quite often, but I don't think I could live there eventhough the standard of living is high.

Petr 11-22-2002 10:20 AM

USA, Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Scotland, England, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Finland, Germany, Tunisia, UAE, Singapore, Luxembourg, Indonasian Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Greece, Cyprus, Austria

railz 11-22-2002 10:21 AM

Let's see.

England, Germany, Italy, Span, Switzerland, Belguim, France, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Egypt, USA.

Not that impressive - except most of them were paid for by my stint as a journalist :)

Iceland is fairly impressive, not exactly a top tourist destination.

I enjoyed it a lot. The weather was simply hell on earth, but very nice people.

I've been in Austria for the last 7 months and the country is really nice and the people are very warm. I think that the reason someone may say this is two fold.
1. People for the most part aren't breaking their backs trying to "make more money than you" here. Never do people ask me what do I do, as a question to guage my economic status.
2. If you travel or live in another country that you really do not speak the language I think that you miss out on the networking with people. My german is good enough to get us around the bars and something to eat, but if I had to be out with the rest of this country working I would have to start language classes while I flipped burgers in the back at MickeyD's.

Iceland is fairly impressive, not exactly a top tourist destination.
There was some movement in Europe some years ago, about Iceland being THE hip place.

My list:
All western european countries (exception made of Iceland and Finland, but including San Marino, beat that!), Morocco, Israel, Syria, USA, Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica, Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina. Possibly going to China-Vietnam-Nepal-India next year

Sama 11-22-2002 02:46 PM

16 countries here. Lived in 2.
U.S. Military.
Love Florida! :)
