I have exclusive content and need help setting up a webiste

I want to set up a pay site with my content I have. All of my content is on DVD's and I need a way to get it from DVD to my web server. After its on my server I then need a way to set things up so I can give my members access to the streaming videos.

If you can help or have some advice, please send me an email to garybleh atyahoo.com

At first, you must have server, domain name, site design, content management scripts, billing etc.
You must encode all your DVD videos to some web formats, like Windows Media, Flash, Real Media or Quick Time. This encoding must be ready for streaming. Or you must have server side software, which will encode videos from VOB files to stream in real time. It's more expensive, because this software not free and you must have very powerful server.
Anyway, If you need any help with your videos feel free to contact with me. It's my work.

make sure you watermark your videos with your site name.
your videos may eventually get stolen by somebody and put on their site, but with your watermark on the videos will ensure you get free promotion

I do not work with DVDs but I know they are a pain in the ass. But you can do this. You need to strip the content off the DVDs and convert it to .mov or .mp4 to play on all major computers. You may want to get Final Cut Studio 2, which if you figure it out will allow you to edit your videos and you can use FC Compressor to put it in a streaming format for your site.

And everything they said before me is SOOOO true, you MUST always watermark your stuff. Even if you stream it all videos are able to be downloaded by right clicking the file. And some idiot will steal your video for his site!!!

You also need to get your URLs, a solid server (i use Cyberwurx), scripting (i use aWIZ) and well if you don't know how to do all the web stuff you will need a webmaster to help you out, there's A LOT to it

this shit requires to install extra software, while format like .wmv can be played praticly on all home computers just by default.

Thanks. Would this watermark have to be through the entire video? Might get annoying for my members to see a little logo the whole time in the bottom corner.

Thanks everyone for your help and comments. Its all very helpful. We definitely have a lot to think about and research to do.

using .wmv is solely for windows, cant play them on macs. So lost customers right there. .mov = quicktime .mp4 = mpeg 4. i prefer mp4 and offer streaming/downloadable videos in multiple sizes. Nearly every computer comes with the software preinstalled to play .mp4.

Watermark, yes the whole video. I use compressor to put in on and make it small in the lower corner.

I recommend registering your domain name yourself with a reputable registry. I use register.com. DO NOT have your webhost register it for you or you might end up where I was a few years ago - the webhost going under and me managing to find an ex-employee who helped me get my domain names back from the horrible, uncaring and unreachable.. TUCOWS!!

I use cybercellcorp.com as my webhost and highly recommend them.

They didn't. My webhost went under and they had registered my sites with Tucows. Tucows ignored all my emails and the phone numbers are nothing but automated phone jail. NEVER let your webhost register your domain - ESPECIALLY with Tucows!
