He should be fired for lack of judgment. I think an officer should be able to access these situations without massive failure such as his.

I'd still have to give it to the guy in San Fran who shot the unarmed guy in the back and killed him on New Years Eve.

I guess he might be 2008 or 2009. |
If thats his level of judgement I think he should find a new line of work.

POWELL: "If you can't verify you have insurance, I'm going to tow your car. So, you either find it or I am going to tow the car."
Then tow my car officer fuckface, I'm going in to see my mother before she's gone forever. BYE The asshole can then either shoot you or initiate his sucky little car-towing. I doubt I'd have cared either way, if it was my mother up there dying. |
I replied with this:
As a former police officer, certified POST in the State of California, I have to say that I am pretty disturbed at the officers actions. I myself dealt with situations where family members were rushing to hospitals, sometimes with sick family members in the vehicle. You have to have some compassion. This country has a terrible perception of police as of late anyhow, stories like this make it worse. We are not out there to take you to jail, we are out there to keep people safe. The tool lent to every officer in enforcing the laws of the state and local municipalities in their duties is JUDGEMENT and DISCRETION. I strongly believe that this officer should have utilized some discretion. There are some variables to the case to consider. 1) It was very late at night. The roads were more than likely empty in this rural area. The officer may have been bored and looking for excitement which set him off unexpectedly. 2) They were headed in the immediate direction of the hospital. Once they relayed to the officer that's where they were heading and why, my reaction, and the reaction of a large majority of officers probably would have been to follow them to the hopsital to verify, while unimpeeding the family, or offer an escort. We are not out there just to put people in jail. Sometimes community service and upholding humanity and those core family diatribes that I keep hearing President Obama talking about are far more valuable than your desire to keep your self entertained until your shift is over. I don't know that to be the case, and am responding based on what I just read here. I personally would have let them go on their way and if I doubted the story would have verified with hospital staff upon following them there. I don't feel like he did the right thing in this case if the facts are what I've just read. |

That's it? Nobody got shot?
Sorry but your mother supposedly dying is not a good enough excuse to risk peoples lives. But the officer should have followed them into the hospital. The officer and the driver didn't use their heads. |

First the NFL monkey risked the lives of many innocent people, then he cops an attitude. Should have been tazed, cuffed and taken to the police station. De laws don't apply to us. We own de White House now. \ http://darksidedata.com/hammertime.gif |

it was not his mother. So he saved 30 seconds running the red light. What difference would that have made? |
Many cops think their patrol car is a penis extension. With that said, I've been on ride alongs with many cops and a lot of them are pretty cool. Of course, that was with the UCPD (berkeley) so your local cops might be quite different.
|
wow :( asshole cop
|
If the guy who ran the red light had been some ordinary White workingman, the fucking chief of police wouldn't be on his fucking knees, saying he's embarrassed at how the officer did his job.
NOBODY would be calling for the cop's head. But the lawbreaker is a rich NFL negro. He's special. |
Pretty ridiculous, but it entertained me and it's nothing new or shocking.

It amazes me how much people have been trained to never doubt authority and always do exactly what they're told. Why didn't the dude just tell the cop to fuck off and go into the hospital? What could the cop had done, run in after him and arrest him in his dying mother in law's room? Sometimes you have to challenge authority and the government and this is an especially important case of when someone should have told the cop to fuck off and done what they knew was right, knowing that the cop was wrong.

yup that's what I would've done and made sure to report this asshole to his bosses.. Write him a ticket for running the light and let him go see his dying mother in law for god sakes.. hell you could write him a citation for no proof of insurance that he could go down and prove he had insurance in x amount of days but to hold him up outside of the hospital is nothing but a stupid fucking cop on a power trip |
