exit consoles....good or bad?
I am in the process of setting up my first member site and wanted to get your guys opinion. I was wondering if it's a good idea to have a few exit popups if a surfer tries leaving my site without joining, and would that impact your decision to become an affiliate. I am not talking about tons of pop ups where it crashes the persons computer, just a few so that if they don't join i can possibly still make some money off them. Second, if i do use a few popups would you have them for the same niche or would you try sending them to a totally different niche?
Also, what's a good non-adult affiliate for the enter page where I can send traffic that clicks the exit button? Any input you guys can give me would be highly appreciated. |
Hi riggo, I would not suggest putting more than one pop-up per exit.. 2+ is very excessive..

Its good... if your exit console is for VIPfreakPass.com ;) ...that will make you easy $$$...
|
Sponsors will tell you that they help sales, but I personally hate them and stay away from them. 2 exit consoles is just pushing it...

The problem with too many is they only see the 1 - 1,000 who actually sign. They don't see all the people who see it as a problem and never come back to the site. Which is very important as lots of stats will tell you that few people sign up on their first visit, the buyer is a cautious person today. Pop ups are just another reason not to buy. Regardless of what some sponsor tells you so he can get the lousy traffic from pop ups. That says something as well. |
I don't do it, it's a clusterfuck.
Many are repeating visitors, many can join while they're there for the second, third time, so you don't want to give them a perfect reason why NOT to come back. Of course if they leave the billing form I have there a pop up with our swingers site in first place and a couple other trusted sites. |
<---- doesn't like them.

popups and exits exist? lol
Ive had popups blocked since like 1969, havent seen one since the Hun was yellow lol my guess is most surfers have pops blocked as well. |
Thanks for the input...sounds like if I were to have any, I should just have one, and put it on the billing page if they try to leave.
|
Bad idea...I would stay away from exit consoles.
|
Don't do it. There's no necessity to do it rather than fuck your surfers.
|
As an affiliate I'd think twice about promoting a (revshare?) site that has uncredited exit consoles.
|
first, at my network you will never find any popup or popunder or new window opened without any warning. clean surfing is my first rule and surfers like more clean sites than popups etc. next thing, if surfer decide to close your site, there is imho almost no chance that he will go back cause of some hpa/fpa with the same content in popunder ... :2 cents: wish you luck with your sites! :thumbsup

Very annoying to surfers. I think you should pass on the idea. There are many other ways to drive sales other than irritating your surfers. And believe me, most are going to find it very irritating. Especially, if you have more than one.

I don't like them, I don't use them :pimp

one exit popup is not bad

ok, exit consoles are out :thumbsup....on to the second part of the question, does anyone know a good non-adult affiliate?
|
Most surfers DO NOT have shit blocked.
MOST surfers use the STOCK installation of web browsers. Yes browsers do automatically block some popups and popunders but MOST surfers do not go the extra length to block the new scripts. |

Do modern browsers like the latest Firefox and Chrome still show popups? Or are they automatically blocked?
I barely ever see a popup anymore, I guess because I have firefox 3.x.. |
one is ok, but more it's bad idea...
