MPG Question
 

Hi

I want to let my site visitors see a MPG clip, how can I do it so they are forced to download it?

Meaning not streaming, or is this not a normal question?

zip the movies.

thanks did not think of that! well the movie is 4.8mb if i have a link just to view it will it take a huge load

what is the difference in the load?
if they are downloading and viewing at the same time versus downloading and then playing it they are still downloading the same file.

I guess then it does not matter

actually you might even use less by letting them stream it because some people might not want to watch the whole vid.

how do they stream it? just a link to /abc.mpg is that it?

You have to convert it to a streamable format... if it's only one movie, I'll convert it for ya... no cost...

yah just link to the file, target "_blank" works best. Then whatever player they have configured on their system to play mpegs (most likely windows media player) will open and start playing it as it downloads.

hmmm... ok maybe I was wrong... if what BV told ya doesn't work... let me know...

mpegs stream "pseudo stream" just like a wmv.
