Question: What is the best blog service to use?

So I'm thinking of making a couple of non-adult blogs with subjects I'm genuinely interested in but I have no idea where to start in terms of the "right way" of going about it.

What is the best place to start and what are the major focal points you want to pay attention to in terms of getting the most traffic out of them and building a proper foundation.

I know there are some blog experts in here, and I would really appreciate any sound advice to get me started in the right direction.

Thanks fellas :thumbsup

Also I've noticed a lot of blog's indexed in SE's with domains like:

blowjobblog.com
hotmilfblog.com

so what's the deal with adding blog to the end of the domain? Does this help SE results for some reason.. I've always been curious about that.

Thanks again!

Again,

I would really appreciate any solid advice from the blog experts on here, as I know there are a few.

I realize it might sound stupid, but I'm a total newbie when it comes to blogs. I'm mainly doing these 2 mainstream non-adult blogs out of personal interest.

Just looking for a good place to start is all, and perhaps a few tips.

Is it better to have your own domain or use a sub domain of theirs?

Thanks again.

maybe try an seo board for those questions?

just like people search for keyword+tube, they search with keyword+blog- so, you can get a little help from having those .com.

wordpress is the best for most blogs, but not all.

btw, here are some coffee and domains rss feeds you get paid commission for promoting on your mainstream blogs.

All I'm looking for is a reliable guideline to stick by, and perhaps a few honest tips.

Not looking to build an empire, I just want to find out the proper way to go about it so I'm not building in the wrong direction.

Any advice or suggestions would help greatly,

and I think I'm in the right place for this but thanks for the suggestion :thumbsup

I had always wondered about that.

Thanks Evan :thumbsup

So I should get a custom wordpress theme and host it myself?

Should I include the word "blog" in the domain or not?

I totally realize I sound like a jackass right now, and I do. But I have always ignored everything about blogs and blogging.

yes get a theme and host it - or use a host with 1-click wp installs. don't use godaddy for hosting it.

having the word blog is your choice. if you want names- there are 159 blog domains at HuntingMoon (ask for the gfy discount) and you can also find expiring blog domains with the PDDW.com Pending Delete Domain Watcher.

PDDW is a good upsell for your new blog too. Pays $20.

If its a subject you are interested in and have some expertise on, start at the beginning. Establish your credentials, explain your interest in the subject and then move on to articles covering specifics of said topic. Try to keep a normal schedule of updating posts, let's say a few times a week. You can write the articles in advance and schedule them to appear in the future on wordpress if you go that route.

Find yourself a list of sites to ping with new updates and grab a plugin that will ping the blogs when the future posts go live. Also grab a sitemapping plugin and submit it to google and various SEs. Add your RSS feed from the blog to relevant blog directories.

Once you have established your blog for at least a little bit, get some quality backlinks and trades with blogs that cover similar topics. If your various blogs fit with each other, link between them in both the sidebar and also reference articles from Blog A in Blog B with good keyword anchor text.

If you keep them updated often and target good keywords AND are handwritten you should do well. It is possible to be indexed by google very soon.

Using blog in your domain name is also something I'd suggest, especially if you can find a good domain that is unregistered or was previously used and expired for any residual traffic that may still go there. I like using blog in blog domain names because people do actually search for the term "blog + 'keyword'"(or vice versa) for personal opinions, different viewpoints and experts in the subject.

I hope this post will be of some help to you.

Excellent info there Uno,

I really appreciate it.

Will take all that advice into consideration, truly.

So is wordpress the absolute best place to go with your blog? I didn't know they had ads if you didn't customize them.

Does it have to be custom to not have their ads? No one offers any pre-fabricated free ones without ads?

Wouldn't want to bother my designer with a blog.

0) do keyword research / find 3-word phrase with high search volume & less competition
1) get hosting + unique ip
2) get keyphrase domain (can be hyphenated, but not more than two hyphens)
3) install wordpress + platinum seo pack
4) change permalink structure to "%postname%.html"
5) get a cool, free, seo optimized theme
6) start blogging
7) get backlinks / use keyphrase as anchor
8) get more backlinks / vary anchor text

..or something like that.
