Did you know?

That Canada has the third-lowest military budget in the NATO alliance, spending more than only Luxembourg and Iceland, which does not have a military.

I'd be interested to hear the total troop #, seems they send troops places all the time, but maybe not heavy equiptment & planes.

I believe it is a matter of priorities. They do have the mighty US army to the south to protect them from enemy invasions and/or attacks. Canada's political system is more socialistic and spends more of its governmental budget on things related to education, welfare etc.

Za Ha 11-21-2002 04:57 PM

I thought it was the lowest.

Brown Bear 11-21-2002 04:59 PM

Canada is smart. Let the US government spend their budget on military so Canada can save money and spend it on other things.

Canada has no reason to spend more on military, and should probably spend even less. Let the US pay for it.

ControlThy 11-21-2002 05:00 PM

Funny how the Bush administration is pressuring Canada to spend more on defense, just like they do on the EU. Why are they doing this? Obviously because they want the rich EU to buy all their new military toys from the US.

It is very clear what kind of game mr. Bush is playing.

tree 11-21-2002 05:00 PM

canada is directly above the united states....prime spot to attack the u.s. from so they never have to worry. big america has their backs. think the u.s. would let someone take canada...ya right

i would invade canada just for the labatt blue :glugglug

Welfare, as they have an absurd unemployment rate.

Of course it is clear. He's the primary business agent for the US military hardware manufacturers.

Foe has seen the light.

You will be hard pressed to find anyone to argue against taking them over. No military budget, its not like we would meet any resistance.

I bet it would not even require any use of force. B-14s flying over Toronto dropping leaflets that said "next time it will be cluster bombs" would be sufficient for them realize that resistance is futile.
