My dad is 66 and just started to learn how to use a computer:helpme

Mutt 03-22-2009 03:19 PM

my dad's gone but when his employer bought him a computer the only thing I ever saw him do with it was play Solitaire - I'd walk in and it would be pitch dark in the den except for the glow of the 14" monitor and him hunched over it playing Solitaire or Minesweeper. This was Windows 3.1 era, early-mid 90's.

RoCkMaN 03-22-2009 03:42 PM

My dad just bought a laptop. He's 64, never used a computer. Took forever to get him on the net.

He called me the other day to tell me about a great web page he found called google. he said that if you typed tits in the space given, that it would show you some cool pics.

He just thought I'd like to know....

My grandma is 82, we chat on msn a couple times a week and once a week or so have a skype session, sometimes with webcam. She also does a lot of emailing, pays her bills online, and participates in online scrabble tournaments.

My dad, now deceased, was amazed back in the 90s when I stopped by a drive-up atm and it took only 30 seconds for me to get $500 in cash.

I'm 69, and am not very computer-literate.

Anyone wanna email me with directions how to delete advertising photos, videos, etc off of my C-drive which is down to 4.36 GB. (I've already done the disk clean-up thing). I'm serious--help! (I also tried the partition thing but at the very end of the process get a "Can't write to the boot" killer-msg.

i have to thank my dad for getting me online. His friend had it in 96-97. He got it in 98 and i was hooked shortly after and started building sites in the summer/fall of 98. I only wish i would have spent more time buying generic domains then...

Computers make my dad pissed, he has to first find what he wants to click, then he lets go of the mouse and presses down with his finger.

My dad is 80 and sharp as a tack, but probably can't turn a computer on. Just too set in his ways.

Whenever somebody mentions the Internet he replies, "I couldn't care less about that shit."

God bless my dad.

A few older guys at work are like that and won't try to learn something new,my mom's been trying at 72 for the last couple years but as one gets older the memory fades and she can't remember certain tasks

baddog 03-22-2009 08:36 PM

My dad is 78 and has been computer literate / web savvy for many years.
