Looking for a cheap reliable programmer

Where do you find your programmers?

sortie 03-21-2009 09:09 AM

Zorgman 03-21-2009 09:15 AM

The words "cheap" & "reliable" should never be used in the same sentence, let alone with "programmers" too. That's outrageous. :D

Peace 03-21-2009 09:17 AM

What do you mean cheap? How cheap do you want him to be...? if 1000 we can give you programmer.

MaDalton 03-21-2009 09:22 AM

cheap, reliable programmer - this makes me lol

LeRoy 03-21-2009 09:27 AM

You can have one or the other.

Not both.

Barefootsies 03-21-2009 09:27 AM

Cheap AND reliable??

Good luck. You'll need it.

Dirty F 03-21-2009 09:29 AM

A reliable programmer is already basically impossible to find. Let alone a cheap one. I know you're gonna ignore everyones advice and will start working with some cheap Indian and i also know you will start a thread in 2 months crying and bitching about him.

MaDalton 03-21-2009 09:31 AM

you can invest $39, buy "PHP for Dummies" and do the job yourself. can't get any cheaper than that

EscortBiz 03-21-2009 09:31 AM

like the others mentioned a reliable programmer is almost impossible, reliable anything is impossible and if they are reliable today tomorrow they can be junk, good luck in your search my best advice is (something i got to do myself more of) is when a programmer gives u the first excuse leave them

Right here, this remark buttons it up nicely.

1. It is next to impossible to find a reliable programmer. Whether you pay top dollar, or bargain basement.

2. Once a programmer or designer gives you one of the 'classics' for excuses. Leave them. It will only get worse.

lol it's like going on a snipe hunt. If they're cheap, they're not reliable and they're probably dangerous. If they're reliable, they're NOT cheap.

Good programmers are this industry's most valuable and rare resource.

I also think people should take a little responsibility for their hiring choices.

I can point out a few programmers here that have never flaked.

But I don't really see many people hitting them up for work.

I could out many of your "BROS" that are well known programmers and designers on this board who are flakey fucks, do half ass work, and Houdini is their middle name.

I could do the same for all the people who've dropped the ball, owe me money, and alike. However, board drama does not pay the bills. So I just drop them, and do not hire them again.

My experience mirrors that of many others on this board. I have paid top dollar, and also went the way of script sites, Indians and Pakis. One is no better than the other in end results for most.

Yes. There are some good programmers out there. I do not deny that. They tend to have a solid client base, and do not need new clients. Nor are they on GFY looking for work. Which is the point.

Do you really wonder why some programmers will never look for work on this particular
board?

ArcherJanvier 03-21-2009 07:44 PM

Wtf

The word "programmer" covers a very wide range of diciplines/skill sets.

It would be really nice if you described the project that you want to accomplish.

Best Regards,

Archer

I agree with you Archer

Skilled and experienced programmers are really hard to find. There are lots of them who are cheap but the result of work s*cks. You will just get what you pay pigman.

Give us further details let me know what we can do for your projects.
