Anyone ever been to the Virgin Islands?
If so, how is it compared to Hawaii for example?
I am planning on moving to Hawaii in a year or two but noticed the Virgin Islands also after doing some reading but never been there. |
Very intense sun in the summer. My first visit to St. John when I was a kid was in April and I got cooked. My skin peeled for weeks.

It's on the list for sure! My cousin lived in St. Thomas for a while and loved it.

been to st thomas a couple of times. I wouldn't move there. It would get old in a month.
I am looking at Belize and I think you should as well. It's the only english speaking country in central/south america and the belizean dollar is backed by the us dollar ~Ray |
my sister lived on one of the islands in the british virgin islands
some asshat there that she worked for...tried to hold onto her passport and not let her leave the country...but some locals just put her on their boat, and went and got the passport and she was outta there |
Been to all of them and I found that Tortola was the nicest - but if you are on a sailboat then cruise them all. All very nice. However, Grenadines and Grenada is by far my favorite islands in the Caribbean. :2 cents::thumbsup

I have spent time on St Thomas, St Maartin, Saba, Anquilla and St John. Whomever said it above, the sun is INTENSE during the summer months, but man is it worth it.
The water is gorgeous. GORGEOUS. Especially great if you can visit each by boat. In regards to the a comparison to Hawaii, I am useless, as I have never been. |
St Thomas was touristy, St Johns was awsome, we were only there for a week
|
maybe are more virgins there
|
St. John's is very nice.
Away from Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas is equally nice. St. Croix is very nice. British VI are nicer, IMO |
You talking US Virgin Islands or the British Virgin Islands?
They are pretty different, culture wise. St. Thomas can be a bad place lots of crime in some areas, was the murder capital of the US awhile ago. Cruise ships, tourists and even ghettos. But this is the business end of the US Virgin Islands. St John is amazing but very primitive at times. The power goes out and takes them days to get it back on sometimes. But a great place to visit St John is a very small island, a lot of it is a national park. The British Virgin Islands are much better in my opinion. Very primitive at times but so beautiful. The whole culture is very slow so don't expect anything to happen quick they all run on "Island Time' over there. Tortola was the best of the British Virgin Islands, in my opinion. |
No, never have visited it yet
