How many pople left this biz recently and were forced to get a real job ?

know of any?

I guess lots of people are leaving, but 95% of them leave silently...

Reak AGV 03-19-2009 09:32 AM

Not sure how many, did you Polish?

Barefootsies 03-19-2009 09:34 AM

I am sure it's not easy to go from ballin smokin phatties, driving in lambos with supermodels, and then having to return back to head fry cook.

a bump for the polish toots.

Scott McD 03-19-2009 09:35 AM

You mean this isn't a real job ?? ;-)

no way, but if i ever leave the biz, I'll surely leave GFY as well

in fact, I might leave GFY sooner, kinda bored with it lately

edit: just had this thought... i talk to lots people and 80% of them complain how hard it is in online adult nowadays...

EscortBiz 03-19-2009 09:36 AM

many and many more will, they all fit the same profile, they think short term, promote based on PPS and hype and do not listen to people offering genuine help.

in every industry adult or mainstream the sheep die quick, doing things because everyone else is has always created disasters, buying a home because your friend did and promoting dating sites because everyone else does etc etc is the foundation of failure.

polish_aristocrat 03-19-2009 09:38 AM

I don't think if someone realizes the money isn't the same anymore in this, then he'll just make a GFY thread "i am leaving, I don't earn shit anymore"

he'll just leave without letting everyone know

:2 cents::2 cents:

hyperdrive 03-19-2009 09:41 AM

wait a minute.. there ARE other jobs other than this?! :P

but honestly, with the recession and all, there's not much biz to switch to..

this is true, but it's also a matter of this industry being in a crisis... or "maturing" as others might say

because back in the day, you COULD be doing the same as everyone (submitting some avarege galleries or whatever) and still make the big $$$ with it

Iron Fist 03-19-2009 10:12 AM

This is part time.... I don't think this will ever be full time...

Headless had to get a job a while back, but then seemed to show up on the weekend to pick up odd jobs.

Haven't seen him around in a while, so maybe he's back to doing what it was that was going to get him out of adult.

slapass 03-19-2009 10:16 AM

I kind of did this in that I moved in real estate in a big way and it is now approaching 50% of my income. Sort of sliding out of porn.

100% everything is down it dont matter the niche the concept, if it involves people giving you money for anything you see a decline in sales.

You have to work harder and smarter in these days and even then you may not make any money to write home about.

Its crazy how quick things go down

Lamis 03-19-2009 11:13 AM

A LOT....

In the last 2 years, I calculated about 40% of the total adult webmasters quit this job and looked for another business as their main income.

During 2009, another 30% will leave the biz.

The crazy thing is that less competition has not increased sales... All the opposite.

If you want a thermometer, just check the forums... GFY has 50% less activity and less active users at any given time, than in 2006.

Videos Board and ThinkReel are COMPLETELY DEATH.

Time to move on, guys.

Deesnuts 03-19-2009 11:31 AM

i quit tattooing for this biz

geedub 03-19-2009 11:33 AM

the gravy train is sure over but there's still ways to have at it.

that's the thing... not sure on the % numbers, but you're pretty much right I'm afraid

all the forums have been pretty much more active 2005-2006

just those who left, won't post anymore, and those who are still here, half of them are seeing a huge decline but are still doing this, while the other half are probably growing, because they are doing the right things (if you don't grow, you're in decline usually)

so when we do polls on GFY, lots of people are saying they are growing each year, but if you'd make the same poll among those who were here in 2005, 60% of them would be gone already I think

oh and another thing - all the programs are usually still saying "We are having record numbers all the time"...... but as I pointed out a while ago, there's a HUGEEE decrease in the number of new programs opened.... that should tell you something as well...

Honestly, I am not sure what the doom and gloom is for?

I would be happy to see another 60% of this industry gone and back to their McGriddles.

RyuLion 03-19-2009 11:52 AM

Never.........

I only have to work 3 hours max a day -btw

Lamis 03-19-2009 12:04 PM

BTW, they leave silently, because the average adult webmaster is too proud to say: "I'm not doing money anymore with galleries, what can I do"...

So, they prefer to leave rather than open a thread with that message in a forum...

Also, the average webmaster is not too smart to learn another business or alternatives to gallery submitting or blog/tube building... even a monkey can submit galleries, open a tube or open a few blogs with wordpress templates, is too easy...

that's why we had so much competition between 2004 and 2007... now the biz itself is kicking them out... only the stronger ones will survive and that's only a small group...

Learning a harder biz in mainstream, trading stocks or anything else, is out of the mass posibilities... thay want something easy.

Agreed.

Most people, adult online or not, are lazy apathetic fucks who appear to believe they are 'entitled' to success. No work required.

:disgust

not everyone who quits this needs to work for McD's, see below

I even know someone who's been doing porn as a student and is working as a doctor in a hospital now

Roby 03-20-2009 07:45 AM

now is really difficult to stay in adult... so much leve tis bissness i think

Paul Markham 03-20-2009 07:48 AM

I know a lot of shooters who have quit. Plus a lot of industry experts who know everything, sold up and work in the industry for others. Because the other people pay more. LOL

There have been lots of casulties recently. If you own content and want a steady income from it, hit me up I have a plan for you.

czarina 03-20-2009 07:49 AM

not me... business has been great for me this year.

IllTestYourGirls 03-20-2009 07:52 AM

I started working online because I saw the housing bubble was going to burst. So a few years ago I started pushing poker. Then the US gov decided to make that illegal to promote so I got into adult. Promoting poker was easier imo. Lets hope the dems lift the ban.

bobby666 03-20-2009 09:48 AM

at least i am still here

starpimps 03-20-2009 09:50 AM

i left the industry to become pro stunt cock and towel boy

All of my work used to come from Adult. Now 80% comes from more mainstream affiliate programs.

You can't pirate what they are selling.. *shrug* .... Nobody wants to pay for work in adult.. They rather get a half ass result for less money because in the end it doesn't matter.

MrLuvr 03-20-2009 10:00 AM

Maybe I am missing something but, if you work at it, it is not THAT hard to make money in porn. I will be the first one to admit that I make a miniscule amount of money in porn. But, that reflects the amount of work I have done. I don't complain that I make no money because I know why I don't.

It is not the industry, it is how much effort you put into it and learn as you go along.

I make enough each month for a small car payment off a few blogs I threw up a couple of years ago. If I multiplied that effort x100 or x1000 I could be making a lot of money in porn. I just have other things going on right now.

Klen 03-20-2009 10:09 AM

I will never leave this biz, ordinary full time job simply doesn't have any sense.Key to survive in this biz to be prepare to research new chances until you find what suits you best and what will work tomorrow.

im guessing a large percentage of people are gone or going that weren't cutting it. considering the offers i am getting for affiliate program stuff and special projects my only assumption can be that the talent pool is very thin at the moment.

I dont see much of a change i see the same guys who are always successful still around. every year there are tons of casualties but they are the typical person who believes in the "get rich working from home" type deal.

those type of people have pipe dreams no matter what industry it is and said before in this thread by EB that they think short term. if you are willing to lay the ground work and work your way up i dont see how you can really fail? i mean on the internet once you understand basic traffic and testing you can really be successful at pushing almost any product.

i dont feel bad for these idiots who come in and tank, they are light years behind and if they are to stupid to see it that is their fault.
