Don't blame the parents-blame McDonalds

This is one reason I'm glad I'm not American. Frivolous lawsuits.

I'm an American and I have never had a lawsuit like this. Do you think if you were American, you'd all of a sudden change your ways and start some frivolous lawsuit?

Horny Dude 11-21-2002 09:45 AM

Who could they sue for not working out or being active...themselves!

While their at it sue themselves for being stupid enough to try and blame this on someone else!

:ak47: LAWYERS

No, I don't think I would.

But, I'd be worried about accidently touching someone out of fear that they'd sick their lawyer on me for sexual harassment.

Or, God forbid, I send them an email with a joke or something that they might find offensive. They might sue me for mental anguish.

railz 11-21-2002 10:24 AM

Blame Canada!

Fletch XXX 11-21-2002 10:27 AM

I am american and i dont eat mcdonalds or burger king.

You live in canada's alabama and you knock americans

hahah

B40 11-21-2002 10:31 AM

When I get kids I'm gona make them smoke and sue the tobacco companies :thumbsup

ronaldo 11-21-2002 10:34 AM

Canada's Alabama? roflmao. Good one, but I think you have us mixed up with our neighbor's to the west.

I guess I should clarify.

I am not anti-american. Lawsuits like that are one reason I'm glad I'm not american.

I'm also glad I'm not Iraqi, for obvious reasons. But I'm not anti-Iraq. Anti-Saddam yes.

There are a fuck of alot of things about Canada that piss me off too. But, aside from our side-mouth talking, gibberish speaking commie leader, I don't have the time to list them all.

CDSmith 11-21-2002 11:34 AM

You ONLY hear about these kinds of lawsuits in the States. Period.

Coffee too hot? must sue.
Coffee too cold? mental anguish, day ruined... must sue.
Your kid died from cancer caused by second-hand smoke from YOUR habit? Oh yeah, must sue.

It's as if someone held a gun to their heads and made them shove McGarbage down their fat self-indulging throats thus making them overweight against their will. Yes, we must sue.

Must sue. sue Sue SUE!

The CaVeMaN 11-21-2002 11:54 AM

In sweden theres no point in Sueing anyone. You donīt get any money anyway :ak47:

traffictrader 11-21-2002 11:55 AM

senses of self-responsablity are sooo overrated.

Jon 11-21-2002 11:58 AM

all i can say is bring back common sense.

Rictor 11-21-2002 11:58 AM

Well, the first kid in the article didn't have any parents to blame...he was living in a homeless shelter...probably begged for money to buy food and McDonalds is a cheap, hot meal. You only need about $2-3 a day and you can keep from starving...I see a lot of homeless people (the ones who actually eat food instead of booze) frequenting the McDonalds in bad areas regularly.

pr0 11-21-2002 12:00 PM

Canada has a ton of retarded lawsuits every year as well.....just last year a train carrying chemicals turned over in northern canada, all the residents of the town were handed $1,000, even the ones who never smelled the ammonia that spilled. :1orglaugh

Common sense in America does not exist. It's why we have all the stupid laws that everyone always bitches about. This country is going to shit...

Not at all but maybe we would be attacked with frivolous lawsuits if we lived in America since its legal to do so there. The fear of being fucked over by useless lawsuits is an unnecessary burden.

That is true pr0,

If I'm not mistaken, the lady that sued McDonald's over the hot coffee was from Nova Scotia as well. Either that or she was a copycat burn victim.

But, suing for the sake of suing here in Canada is pointless because there is some limit as to what a person can claim in a suit such as this.

Because of this limit, lawyers generally won't work on a contingency basis because the reward wouldn't be worth it. So, to sue someone, you would actually have to PAY for a lawyer.

[The Leader] 11-21-2002 01:40 PM

God damnit I'd love to choke some of those fucking parents. Kids weren't obease when they eat Mc D's once a month. Now this lazy ass parents are buying kids fast food every fucking day because they couldn't be bothered to cook a healthy meal, and they're suing Mc. Donalds. Does anyone else feel like their head is going to expload when they read something like this?

[The Leader] 11-21-2002 01:43 PM

"The plaintiffs include a Bronx teen who ate every meal at McDonald's for three years while living in a homeless shelter. Another is a 13-year-old boy from Staten Island who says he ate at McDonald's food three to four times a week and is now 5-foot-4 and 278 pounds. "

LOL, every meal at Mc Dick's? Certainly there are cheaper meals, soup and such. Of caorse you'll get fat eating unhealthy food every day, or ever 3-4 times/week. It's called self control fatty.

So they eat like a savage, get fat, and sue Mc D's. What do they want, all unhealthy food to be taken off the market? haha, I'd like to see what these same fatasses would say if all of a sudden there was no fast food, pizza, chocolate bars, etc for them to stuff themselves with.

jas1552 11-21-2002 02:28 PM

Fuckin politically correct liberal health nazi pussies in the pockets of trial lawyers are responsible for these types of lawsuits being possible.

[The Leader] 11-21-2002 02:33 PM

Wasn't there just recently a lawsuit in Canada where a Father was suing because he claimed his son should have gotten MVP for his ice hockey team?!?! That is not frivolous?!?! C'mon now!

It's not frivolous, it's pernicious. Now it seems no one is responsible for their own actions. It's always the parents, the schools, and now the restaurants.

I've been to McDonalds many times, but never once with a gun to my head. I wonder about these kids? I'm sure I could eat at McDonalds 3 or 4 times a week and still not weigh anything like the kid mentioned in the article.

Sambuka 11-22-2002 02:23 AM

I heard a good one on the radio, there was a father of a 12 kid sueing Nike for millions.

This bat didn't have a disclaimer on the bat that it could hurt people, he didn't get hit by the bat, NO SIR! this kid was playing ball out in the park with his kids and someone threw the ball to the batter who then hit the ball and that ball (projected) by that bat hit this kid in the face breaking his nose and causing him to cry.

So the maker of the bat is getting a nice lawsuit against it because there was NO disclaimer that the bat could hurt people.

You'll see every damn thing you americans buying having a full disclaimer soon.

I'd laugh if Mac donald had to serve you a big mac in a container which said "Eating fast food KILLS, causing diabeties, is full of fat and suger and has almost 0% nutriational value"

Sammy
