I only ever picked up one hitchhiker. A middle aged woman was walking down a road without a sidewalk in the small town where I grew up. It was after 9 PM and completely dark. I knew there was a pack of loose dogs several blocks down and I didn't know where they belonged or if they were dangerous. So I picked her up and took her home.

I had never picked up a hitchhiker before, today I gave 2 dudes a ride. They then got picked up within seconds of leaving my ride. Good to have friendly motorists, if you look straight you can get a ride almost anywhere I would think.
