Girl Scout cookies can't go much lower.

My daughter-in-law gave me a box of Girl Scout cookies this evening. Thought the box looked a little small.

Opened it up when I got home, and discovered a grand total of 16 cookies. That is $.25 a cookie! WTF?

They are going to price themselves out of the cookie business.

BSleazy 03-08-2009 10:57 PM

I think they've always been like that. At least for the ones I like. I forget what they're called though. They come in that purple box...

Matt 26z 03-08-2009 10:59 PM

Yeah I heard that it got smaller. I used to buy the thin mint kind by the case and freeze them.

The closest I've found is the Keebler version, but they aren't as thin and they don't taste as good frozen.

SarahLLO 03-08-2009 11:06 PM

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous... but jeez, Samoas are good enough that I'll prob buy some anyway if I see a girlscout.

PersianKitty 03-08-2009 11:15 PM

Back in the dinosaur days when I sold girl scout cookies, they were 50cents a box instead of $4.00 and I swear there were more cookies in the boxes.

PK

"Old man complains about girl scout cookies"

This is more exciting than small town meetings in a foreign language.

I am only going by what I was told. Maybe she got them at cost or something. I saw some scouts selling them when I was at the store earlier, but I never bothered to ask how much they were.

tiger 03-08-2009 11:41 PM

Campfire mints are the best. Girlscout cookies are overprice and overrated.

You should learn to comprehend English a little better before you start jumping to conclusions. :2 cents:

They recently dropped off the 10 boxes that I ordered. There are plenty in the Lemon Chalet Cremes, but I heard there are less cookies in the thin mint box.

I got Lemonades. Popped them in the freezer for a few hours and doubt they will make it through the night. It will take some will power.

Better get here quick.

V_RocKs 03-09-2009 01:57 AM

It is called donating... Only here you actually get a product.

sexandcash 03-09-2009 03:43 AM

I also read somewhere that they decreased the amount of cookies in the box. Those things are as addictive as crack so I'm gonna get some this year regardless of the amount of cookies. I'm in love with Samoas and Thin mints....omg....so fucking good. And the money really does go for a good cause-helps give scholarships and helps send girl scouts on trips and what have you.

What could be more wholesome then buying cookies from a girl scout?

sexandcash 03-09-2009 03:44 AM

WTF?

I can't believe people rob girl scouts?

HorseShit 03-09-2009 05:47 AM

shit that reminds me they will come soon to collect

beerptrol 03-09-2009 06:04 AM

I bought some Thin Mints and Tagalongs for 3 bucks a box. Thought that was a decent price, so bought 6 boxes of each for 36 bucks total

John-ACWM 03-09-2009 11:16 AM

Reak AGV 03-09-2009 11:23 AM

$.25 per cookie? That's a bad deal man!

seeric 03-09-2009 11:28 AM

something that really fucking irritates me is the supermarkets allowing people to beg in front of the store. not just girl scouts. every day i go to the store there's some begger from some place that i've never heard of with a metal container with a slot in it to put money asking me to make a donation. sometimes i want to tell them, "hey motherfucker, i work in the porno business, shit is tough out there. i might be out here standing next to you in a few years, save me a fucking space!" haha.

i always go in and out the door that they aren't standing at.

on a side note. in the last month, i've seen two seperate sets of families standing together outside of supermarkets here in the valley asking for handouts. both had lost their homes and jobs and had kids with them. i would predict its gonna get worse in that facet.

i feel sorry for the girl scouts. people are less funded now and don't buy junk food as much. they are obviously slimming down their production costs by making the box smaller and charging more. getting more profit per box because they are selling less the last few years.

my opinion anyhow.
