happens often recently to me & drives me crazy

qxm 03-07-2009 08:11 PM

really? .... fuck dammit and I've been waiting for an important reply.... shit...... any idea how to retrieve them? (if possible)

baddog 03-07-2009 08:16 PM

My assistant seems to be having that problem with hers and it is irritating the crap out of me. That is why my ICQ is always on.

collegeboobies 03-07-2009 08:17 PM

IllTestYourGirls 03-07-2009 08:51 PM

Yeah. It has been fucking up on me a lot. I wont get messages when Im online a lot lately.

RuthB 03-07-2009 08:54 PM

d-null 03-07-2009 08:57 PM

JD 03-07-2009 09:24 PM

been going on for weeks over here :/

Paul Markham 03-08-2009 02:16 AM

The thing that bugs me is people who ask if I'm online when it says I'm not. And that's all they ask.

Tips to using ICQ. LEAVE A FUCKING MESSAGE!! About what you want. And don't send a URL or email address unless you have been added to the recipients list.

DarkJedi 03-08-2009 03:23 AM

use the official client. ICQ6 (+ download banner removal hack)

other shit clients (trillian, etc) always have problems.

:2 cents:

Fuck do I notice. I'd get rid of Trillian but I can't find a better multi-platform aggregator. I tried Pidgin, it sucked ass.

Czech 03-08-2009 02:11 PM

Same problem as well :Oh crap

seeandsee 03-08-2009 02:17 PM

i get mine normally i think :)

Mutt 03-08-2009 02:18 PM

icq is a piece of shit - the other day when i logged on i received messages from people that were sent two days earlier - people probably thought i ignored them.

never presume on ICQ that somebody is ignoring you - unless they do it a lot to you.

fuzebox 03-08-2009 02:19 PM

Noticed this as well, starting within the last couple of weeks :(

mmcfadden 03-08-2009 03:20 PM

same here... not sure how long it's been happening, I know yesterday I missed a couple. It seems like it's been a couple days

prezzz 03-08-2009 04:17 PM

Ah crap, this was one of those reasons why I preferred ICQ over other IM's - its flawless delivery of offline messges. Until now, that is... AIM was always pissing me off with its 'user is offline' message.

Serge Litehead 03-08-2009 09:25 PM

With some of my contacts I don't get half of their messages through, its fucked up when I'm expecting their answer and some time past I get their "Did you get my message?" or "What do you think about it?" and I have no idea what they said.
Skype is awesome on the other hand except both parties need be online at the same time for anything to get through.

JD 03-08-2009 09:34 PM

god damn icq needs to get this fixed

Phil21 03-08-2009 11:36 PM

ICQ is horrible. I have no idea why folks haven't started migrating off of it more than they have. While the idea of offline messages is great, as-is it's worse than not even implementing them at all.

Also it's inability to receive "duplicate" messages from multiple locations (e.g. workstation, laptop at home, etc.) is *really* annoying as well. I don't want to have to remote desktop in just to talk on ICQ.

AIM these days is my preferred IM network. It Just Works(tm). Yes, no offline message capability, but that is what e-mail is for. If I send a message, I can be reasonable sure the recipient did indeed receive it. ICQ, not so much.

It's no longer 1998 :) Time to make a switch in my opinion.

$5 submissions 03-09-2009 06:12 AM

My solution: just leave ICQ (via Trillian) on 24/7. Not a perfect solution--some items go missing when message windows close.

HorseShit 03-09-2009 06:16 AM

i try not to message people on it anyway

Raf1 03-09-2009 06:23 AM

I've been having this problem for a while now. Either that or some people are just hiding, lol

NickB. 03-09-2009 06:26 AM

I have 3 icqs running - one of them must work lol

tranza 03-09-2009 06:36 AM

I usually don't have problems with offline messages..

CaptainHowdy 03-09-2009 07:06 AM

Damm ...
