Quick GFY! Is this roast to big for this roaster?
http://www.kidsoncrack.com/roast.jpg
Should I cut the fucker in half or something? It sticks about an inch above the top of the roaster. I've never cooked a roast for myself before, but I acquired this little roaster and the first thing I did was head to the grocers and buy a nice roast. Someone halp... |
no season dat bitch up
|
I think it would be okay... you are covering it with foil, right? Throw in some vegetables as well... onions, potatoes, carrots...
|
it does have a lid for the roaster, that'll cut it right? or do i gotta foil the bitch too?
i got carrots, onions, potatoes, asparagus, beef bullion, and spices all lines up and ready to go. someone suggested searing the roast in a frying pan first. good idea? the entire roast doesn't need to be covered in water right? |
Yeh you should sear it... if you have a cover, that should be fine. It doesn't need to be totally covered, no.
Are you putting asparagus in with it? That sounds kind of weird. |
You need some of these bitches!
http://jwbasecamp.com/Articles/DryGe...Large_0147.jpg Stick all your veggies and meat in the bag(in the roaster), add some water, tie it closed and put it in the oven. :) |
Obviously you'd want the "large" size. not the turkey size. :winkwink:
|
Oh.. no need for the lid either.
|
Sear it. High heat, 2 minutes on every side (6)
Cook in 1 inch water Add asparagus at the end, 10 minutes before meat is done. Use a meat thermometer! |

Women are for cookies, pies, cakes, fetching beer, and the occasional sammich... My regular femcook is a vegetarian :( |
No it's not. I cook my roast in a glass dish with a lid. keeps the juice in and makes it tastier
:thumbsup |
Well, I'm going for it. Really I'd prefer to have a slowcooker, but my old one is toast and I haven't picked up another yet. So I'm venturing into the world of the roaster.
This look somewhat correct? http://www.kidsoncrack.com/roast2.jpg |

Thanks for the tips and help ppls. Once again proving the only thing gfy is good for is hot food tips. If this place ever takes a change of direction, go into the cooking niche. go feed yourself... |

So then, what about this roast?
http://bunbeatingfun.com/xternal/oven-stuffer.jpg Is it too big to big for this roaster? :upsidedow http://bunbeatingfun.com/xternal/yel...ket300x225.jpg Happily, our research would seem to indicate that it is not :) http://bunbeatingfun.com/xternal/roasted.gif |
Season the bitch up and roaster it! Should be tasty!!
|
ok, so that roast turned out pretty damn tasty if i do say so myself. i snapped a pci after it was done, but i was too busy devouring that shit to rush back and post it.
http://www.kidsoncrack.com/roast3.jpg NEXT QUESTION: How do I make gravy out of the leftover water and grease and stuff? Just toss in flour and pepper and shite? |

Melt some butter in a pot and whisk in an equal amount of flour. A couple tablespoons of each should do it. Add a dash of salt and pepper, and let the roux cook for a minute (to get rid of the taste of flour). Strain your liquids (getting the chunky bits out), and add a small amount of the strained liquid to the roux, let simmer for a minute - it'll get thick, then slowly add enough liquid to get the desired consistancy. Silky gravy every time. |
