you have to mix your pay traffic with free traffic to reduce cpc otherwise adwords are not returning good margins right now..

I use Adwords for ticket sales and I'm doing better this month then last month. I have also been doing well with Yahoo's adwords.

Our short term returns on Adwords are not profitable, however expanded to long term to include the rebills we're seeing a profit. It just takes time for it to build up a good base of recurring customers. Definitely not something you want to play with unless you can afford to be cash negative on your campaigns for 3-6 months (Maybe more).

We never reached a cash positive situation with Yahoo! Nearly broke even, but never made a profit.
