Mainstream tip of the day: donations
 

Lots of sites give away free stuff (articles, software, etc) to draw ad views. What many webmasters fail to realize is that often, surfers will be grateful when you present them with something they find useful or enjoyable.

If you have a mainstream site that offers something fairly useful and isn't completely covered in ads, set up a donations button. You'll find that many people can be quite generous when they enjoy your site.

I've donated to a few different free webmaster tool sites after I found myself using the tool over and over... :thumbsup

Yep, it works well for sites with webmaster tools.

Even better, though, are sites with a political theme. I actually removed all advertising from a political site of mine a few weeks ago because I was getting an average of over $1 per visitor from donations.
