Do you recycle?

I just got started with a new curbside service in my dinky little town. The service is free, the bags are $1 each, but they are huge.

It makes me feel all greenified when I put something in the recycle bag that would have normally gone into the trash.

Our bin is jam packed every week.

JayDeeZee 03-06-2009 08:31 AM

They pick up our garbage every 2 weeks and you only get a small bin.

Compost and recycling are picked up weekly.

its sad actually... but hey, more money to be spent on you know, mardi Gras and cleaning up the urine and puke in te streets lol

but oh no, dont recycle!!!! COSTS TOO MUCH!!

We sort trash into 4 different bins, one for general trash, one for packages, one for bio stuff, and one for plastics.. We are very green :)

Wow, you're just getting recycling? I thought it was standard everywhere. Even my hometown of 2600 people has had it for at least 10-15 years. I try and recycle everything I can...plastic, paper, cardboard, cans, etc. My actual garbage is almost nothing and when they start the whole organic recycling it will be even less.

We've had a recycling center for a long while, but not curbside.

Yeah wo do. It seemed a bit of a pain at first, but once you get doing it for a while, it becomes just a daily routine like everything else...

Yup... In the UK, you 'Have Too'...

fuzebox 03-06-2009 09:26 AM

Here "recycling" is when homeless people pick through your trash and take what they want.

the alchemist 03-06-2009 09:27 AM

Yes, been doing it for over 15 years...

That's exactly what a lot of the Native Americans do around here.

Strickie 03-06-2009 09:54 AM

Yes, there's a truck that comes around once a week to collect the bins.

alexchechs 03-06-2009 10:05 AM

We recycle here in NYC mostly because it is the law and mandatory at most apartment buildings. But I think it's a good thing. I am more into bringing my own bags to the supermarket instead of taking plastic bags from the check out. If 1 out of every 10 people did this it would go a long way.
