Is it illegal to sell used underwear

Is it illegal to sell used womens panties?

Is it illegal everywhere or just the States?

andi_germany 11-20-2002 03:50 AM

Why should it be illegal?

.:Frog:. 11-20-2002 04:05 AM

I heard it was illegal in the US.

titmowse 11-20-2002 04:15 AM

I think that the auction sites put the kibosh on panty sales.

I know a gal can't "try on" undies at the store.

As far as selling them being illegal, I haven't a clue. It's rather unsanitary and might pose a health hazard.

Tipsy 11-20-2002 04:26 AM

Somone got into trouble for sending it through the post so yes you can probably sell it fine but can't post it for health reasons.

.:Frog:. 11-20-2002 04:34 AM

Now I remember, its illegal to sell unwashed clothing for health reasons.
Socks/underwear aren't allowed to be sold if they have been used.

Gemini 11-20-2002 07:40 AM

Federal Health Codes prohibit sales of lingerie (last we read) UNLESS it's washed before shipment. Have the gilrs wear it, pics in it, pop it in the washer, spritz it with perfume and the surfer is happy. :winkwink: I used to make some pretty nice money from that. :)

Do What Gem said because,

Soiled or Worn Panties are considered "hazardous material", that's why Lens doesn't sell the girls on AP panties...:Graucho

Sick Puppies are a large portion of the industry's income, in one form or another.

KRL 11-20-2002 09:25 AM

Worn panties are big request items on cam sites, but it is illegal to ship them and I know one girl got arrested for doing it in a sting.

DarkJedi 11-20-2002 09:41 AM

okay, who determines the state of "cleaness" ? (as long as it doesnt have brown skidmarks it shold be ok)

BJ 11-20-2002 09:41 AM

picindex 11-20-2002 10:08 AM

I came across a guy 1 year ago who was making 10k/month on selling "used still smelling" underwear on the Internet.

I guess this was a hot item. I think it still is. Never knew it was illegal.

Illegal? I can understand it being necessary for them to be labled "used," but, well, maybe they're worried that someone handling the mail could be exposed to germs. However, one gets exposed to germs all day long, and I can't think of anything lethal that could be transmitted by a package with underwear in it that couldn't also be transmitted by something it's perfectly legal to send.

I remember on Howard Stern he interviewed the guy who ran "UsedPad.com", now closed down.

I guess they'd get used celeb pads when the celebs would stay in the hotel the cleaning people would save their trash.
They were auctioning off Rene Russo, Pam Anderson and Julia Robert's used pads.

MakeMeGrrrrowl 11-21-2002 07:30 PM

I've sold many a pair of panties, never dirty though. I usually just get a glob of uncented clear hair gel and plop it in the crotch, put it in a zip lock and send it on the way :)

My understanding it, it is illegal to send them via US mail.

Woman Faces Prison For Selling Dirty Underwear

Postal Inspectors Discover Web-Based Business

Posted: 8:39 p.m. EDT July 5, 2002

ANDERSON, S.C. -- A Central, S.C., woman pleaded guilty this week to federal charges of mailing soiled underwear and other items that she sold over the Internet.

According to a release from South Carolina U.S. Attorney Strom Thumond Jr., 21-year-old Christine Vetter (pictured, left) admitted in federal court that she operated a Web site offering the items for sale.

Vetter said that, from November 2000 to March 2002, she sold and mailed about $9,000 worth of soiled underwear and other used hygiene and sex- related items on the Web site while she was a student at Clemson University.

The woman faces up to five years in prison or a $250,000 fine on charges of "mailing indecent and filthy substances."

The case was investigated by U.S. Postal Service agents. The investigators learned about Vetter's business when they spotted a letter addressed to her, labeled that it contained child pornography.

The envelope did not contain any child pornography, inspectors said. They later determined that that the sender of the letter was a disgruntled customer of Vetter's Web site.

Vetter's site is no longer operating.

MakeMeGrrrrowl:

I got a friend who did well out panties - used to buy 500 pairs at a time from a wholesaler, throw em all on the floor and sprinkle some (cheap) perfume over em and then trample over em...

That was the most profitable sprinkling and trampling he ever did in his life! :)

UnseenWorld 11-21-2002 10:19 PM

I know a guy with a panty freak site who buys girls panties, rubs his own butt with them, and sells them as used panties. The poor slobs smell the musk and think they're the real deal. What a racket!

DO NOT SHIP POST OFFICE FOR anything,
think about it, it is a Government agency with tons of
rules for busting your ass.
Just ask all the people that get busted for shipping
movies, and in the old days books about porn...

USE UPS or FedX

If you start shipping several pairs a day UPS will even pick them up at your house, LOL...
Oh and shipping can be claimed on taxes......

It is legal to sell soiled garments in the States. It's
illegal to ship a bioharzard via the federal post. You must
ship by a courier licensed to handle human waste.

Okaaaay....I'm dead-fucking-tired from working all day long, and I'm sort of fuzzy-headed, so I wanna get this straight.

The people who've gotten in trouble for selling worn undies got in trouble because they used the US Mail to send them, am I correct? Not that the selling of the worn undies themselves is illegal, it's the sending them through the US Mail that's a no-no.

Okey-dokey. FedEx, here I come. Selling worn panties/pantyhose has been a part of my plan for my site since the beginning, and I just want to make sure I'm going about this legally.
