Watermarking & Compression

I have a client who needs to watermark, and compress some clips to different formats.

I use Adobe Premiere, and typically only watermark, and convert to DivX from DV AVI. However so me people prefer WMV, MPG, etc..

In Premiere, I can load up the DV AVI, and watermark and compress in a single action. I am not sure if there is other software out there that can do the same. I know JimGunn uses Sorenson. I have used CleanerXL in the past. But I need something for both converting, and watermarking.

Videocharge ftw!

I typically do most of this in after effects, and back that up with video charge for clipping.

Yeah, from what little I have paid attention to how others do it. They typically accomplish the watermarking/compression in two steps. Same for cutting clips. Where I can do it in ONE STEP in Premiere.

However, Premiere can be expensive for someone just starting out, so I thought maybe there are some alternatives. On my clips I license. They must be watermarked.

FTP it to adultencoders.com or encoding.tv and have them do it cheap

Well, typically those licensing content are either programs (so this is a non-issue), or small fries looking to get started, or changing from one market (i.e. tgp) to another. I do not know that they would be looking to outsource.

A guy I once met said: "Those who can't share, can't multiply either".
He is now my business partner and best friend :)

I have used Cleaner XL for many years for encoding and watermarking WMV, MPEG, Real and other formats. I only used Sorenson Squeeze for a couple of formats including Ipod compatible MP4s. But Videocharge has been working great for me for many formats lately and it has the ability to encode to many formats including Flash with the ON2 VP6 codec and it is also able to watermark all formats as well.

Good stuff. Keep it coming.

I can do the watermarking and uploading for some clients. But, I do not do them in multiple formats, and you have to pay extra.

However, especially with clip stores, you may want the ability to use other formats to maximize your content.

Um...Cleaner XL does that all at once.

I've been using it for years with both graphic and text watermarks.

burntfilm 03-07-2009 10:18 AM

Mac users who don't have final cut or premiere may not know that quicktime pro does all this stuff as well.

:2 cents:

brandonstills 03-07-2009 10:35 AM

ffmpeg will do it but you have to really know your stuff to get it to work.
