I don't get it. I think customers put more value into something more expensive, that's the only thing I can think of.

Deej 03-02-2009 10:35 PM

must be...

TidalWave 03-02-2009 10:39 PM

14.95 sounds like bad quality to me. 29.95 or higher gives you hope that it'll be of higher content

Mentioned already, but price implies value.

Exactly, what I was thinking.

Expensive = more reliable.

All my future dvds are going to be $29.95, fuck that $14.95 bullshit, the only problem though is the retailers that buy wholesale hate buying my genre dvds for over $10.00

dave90210 03-03-2009 12:05 AM

What happend to Bumfights.com? Did you produce all the DVDS on your DVD site?

You get what you pay for. It's an old saying.

pixovore 03-03-2009 12:10 AM

A regular price + a clear way to bill = trust

wtfent 03-03-2009 12:46 AM

I always wanted to start a clothing company line and just charge like 2x all the other expensive stuff just to see if people would buy it. I'm talking like a $3,000 pair of jeans and shit. Talk about huge profits. :1orglaugh

donkevlar 03-03-2009 01:34 AM

You're absolutely correct.

aniloscash 03-03-2009 01:35 AM

perception that if its too cheap its not of good enough quality to buy.

ContentPimp 03-03-2009 01:40 AM

Exact same reason why I sold more tix when the price was double for the exact same act, vs when it was half price :) People think that higher price = better quality

IE: I bought a no name LCD tv one time, and at the same time panasonic was selling one for 3 times the price, it turned out both tv's had the exact same parts inside, just different exterior lol

$29.95 seems like a regular price to pay for high quality dvd's. The figure $14.95 seems a bit odd and that might be the reason. Maybe something like a sale 29.95 crossed and a new price = $19.95 would work well.

They cashed in and left the biz, I had so many opportunities for them that they passed up. They wanted to sell me their e-mail list for hundreds of thousands of dollars, I wanted them to sign up for our program and those conversions would have been fuckin insane. Had lots of other ideas for the guys that they were never down for, however we did do lots of good biz.

I agree on your point of view...

dyna mo 03-03-2009 08:13 AM

girls gone wild DVDs are 2 for $9.99

Owner Joe Francis, who is currently 34, makes an estimated $29 million a year in revenue from "Girls Gone Wild" productions.

it's simplistic to conclude high priced items sell better than lesser priced items.

His commercials are hot. I also believe $9.99 is just the introduction price. Once you buy the first $9.99 set of dvds you get a new DVD a month @ $24-29 bucks a pop. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

they rebill at full retail which is only $19.95, still in the under $20 category and much different than $29.95. also, that just bolsters the fact that not everyone that buys DVDs does so based on perceived high quality directly correlated from high price.

You have a point kind of, $9.99 for two dvds is just fantasy land, he is going for the people that want free shit and get pulled into subscription programs. Can't really do that in retail sales unless if its just your company, my old dvd subscription program got up to about 250 people at one point, they are nice.

However, personally I feel there is a catch to them being so cheap, if I were to see a GGW dvd in a store for $7.95 I would be like damn this must suck but if it was $29.95 I'd be like damn this must be their new hot dvd. Still wouldn't buy but i'd put higher value on it.
