Man Drinks Nothing But Coke for Four Decades
 

Croatia: According to local media 71-year-old Pero Ajtman has drunk nothing but Coke for in excess of four decades. The pensioner claims to be in perfect health despite his obsession with the caffeinated, carbonated, beverage.

His religious mother made him promise not to drink alcohol in 1968. To Ajtman Coca-Cola was the only flavour that rivaled wine and soon he was drinking it exclusively.

"Now I have a glass in the morning, before and after lunch, with my dinner and then before I go to bed. My mother isn't here to tell me not to drink anymore but I'm not even tempted to quit coke for alcohol... I'll drink it til I die," he said.

There was a similar story about a guy in his 70s who ate nothing but Oscar Meyer hot dogs and bologna for decades. He still worked 8 hours a day and was in decent shape for an old man.

A super cold bottle of Coke is pretty damn good though.

I see kids buying worse shit everyday at my local store. Most of them take chips and soft drinks to school. That's about 15 years of junk food at an age when it really counts

Coke in Croatia is different than Coke in the US. It does not have HFCS like Coke does in the US. Regular sugar is not nearly as bad for you.

US government corn subsidies and protective tariffs on foreign sugar imports make High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) much cheaper than sugar. That is why it is in almost everything in the US. It is destroying the average American's health.

Wasn't Croatia part of Yugoslavia? Wasn't Yugoslavia communist after WWII? Was Coke able to market their nefarious capitalist beverage in Yugoslavia during the height of the Cold War?

Nothing amazing about this. We have tons of fat people here in America that do that and more each and every day.

oh yes, i agree that it is bad for health and i almost never consume it. when i do i find that it tastes strange, real syrupy and thick.

i was not aware of why it's in everything though. i though white sugar would be cheaper to use.

That's why I stopped drinking soda. Not that sugar is great for you either. They sell Coke from Mexico at Costco. It's in bottles and has no HFCS. A little expensive though.

Serious? I wish they did that here. Sugar doesn't bother me but HFCS makes me gain weight instantly, I have to avoid it like crazy. Otherwise I would drink a few cokes a day but I have like one a month.
