HTTP REFERER filtered?
 

From time to time some members complain that they can't watch videos.
Problem is that video provider cannot see from which site he clicked to watch videos, and their server rejects to show content.
Why is their HTTP referer information is cleared? It happens to AOL members mostly. Does some versions of AOL have an option to block this info? Or are there Internet privacy programs which blocks cookies, referer information etc.???

I know that Java applets can click through by setting the window location property and when they do that they don't send referrer information with the click.

I think the same is true with javascript new window calls, and therefore probably flash new window calls... There are a bunch of potential sources for no-referrer traffic without there being any kind of filter or anything.

Tell them AOL is a giant peice of shit, start your own ISP & rake in the bucks :thumbsup

hmmm interesting.... wonder if copying the history to the new browser window will fix that problem

.... so i open feed links in the current window for all AOL users and target=new for everyone else :thumbsup

Many firewalls block this information, such as Norton Internet Security.

This is definitely older AOL's new window bug. Because the latest problem member said he couldn't watch the videos of my new provider, which needs a popup viewing console.

And it is good to know about Norton Internet Security, there were very few non-AOL users, their problem must be firewalls.

Netscape 6 has this problem also, it was fixed in version 7.
