I have connected directly to the modem and nothing changed.

I have disabled firewall, virus scanner, etc etc.

woke up this morning and it was working got home from dropping kids off and it dont work anymore, but this really old kids computer downstairs works perfectly fine.

Fucksakes 02-24-2009 11:06 AM

1 month new.. sony vaio, covered in diamonds

The only time I ever got that "media disconnected" was unfortunately when my cable modem had gotten zapped (along with 1 tv tuner and 1 expensive telephone) from a nearby lightning strike.

It'd work, then not work, connect and disconnect, wired and wireless.. then finally it would just not work at all and I had to exchange it for a new one. That was after a few levels of support.

Hope yours is more simple, good luck.

Call sony...

Sosa 02-24-2009 11:31 AM

I'd see what extra crap is running, reset your modem and laptop and making they will pick up again. Scan for spyware/virues just incase

Elli 02-24-2009 11:32 AM

media disconnected? Check in your Network Connections to make sure your network card is still working perhaps.

Fucksakes 02-24-2009 11:36 AM

done all of above.. only problem is I am using windows7.. so calling support will just say sorry we cant help you.

peeperpimp 02-24-2009 11:47 AM

while roaming it may have picked up another connection which is now out of reach due to you going home, reset your connection, also check your router and call your ISP they may be able to help, I think they would realize that if you cant connect to the internet then there would be no need for their services

my other computer.. this one... works fine.. so obsiously calling my isp and getting them retards on the other end reading from a book will say.. internet works fine cant help you any more. been there done that.

Fucksakes 02-24-2009 11:52 AM

there was just an update for win 7 now.,. hope this fixs my problem.

UFGators2007 02-24-2009 11:58 AM

Bump for assistance.

PersianKitty 02-24-2009 12:00 PM

Wired or wireless?

if wireless from what I can find off google it sounds like to try setting up the mac number for your wireless card in device manager or thru your router admin in your browser.

leek 02-24-2009 12:05 PM

You didn't accidentally bump the laptop button that turns off wifi did you?

Been there done that aswell, with them retards reading from a manual, but, it depends on what you say and how you say it...

1st off, disconnect your working machine from your router / modem, wut ever, then connect your laptop only after that call and ask to speak with a supervisor, when he comes on tell him straight out "your employees cant seem to help me cause all they do is read from a manual, etc.. etc.. " tell him your problem and also point out that if you cant access the net then theres no need and useless to keep their services..

( all the whle making it seem that this laptop is your only current machine )

In an affort to keep you from canceling they may ask to log in to your laptop remotely and fix it for you. (its the reason why I said above only have your laptop connected to the modem or router)

Or the supervisor may give you steps to follow that them morons reading manuals dont know.

Try it and see what happens, you've got nothing to loose.

no lol.. but the little green light don't come on.. which is why i tried connecting with the wire.. also tried disabling the wireless card, and the other way around.. still no internet.

normally im good at fixing this shit.

Karen Kougar 02-24-2009 12:30 PM

To troubleshoot whether it's hardware or your OS, try booting from an Ubuntu live disk. If you can attach to the network, it's Windows. If you can't, more likely Sony.

From your ipconfig, you're connected to your router at 192.168.1.1 and it's picked up a DNS set from your host. So it's probably not a hardware issue. Try typing in 192.168.1.1 into your browser and see if you get your router login. You also might try disable all that Teredo crap and see if that's interferring.

Has to do with Vista IPv6 protocol. I had to disable it in an HP laptop that my daughter-in-law uses. It's in the Network Connections properties for the adapter. Clear the check box.

You've likely already tried bypassing the router to see if that works.

VideoJ 02-24-2009 01:53 PM

Can you get to the router from other computers on your net?

Try turning off the firewall on your laptop http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-turn-off.html If it's somehow set to block everything that would cause big problems.

yup that was the last thing i tried :(

and i have disabled anything that could possibly block me from going on the internet.. thats pretty basic to know, only ran into that one 1000 times.

yeah, even thou it was annoying to do because its all nicely placed on a shelve in the basement.

PersianKitty 02-24-2009 02:07 PM

Grasping I know..

roganoli 02-24-2009 02:59 PM

format...

Emil 02-25-2009 04:29 AM

1: The most obvious is to try to enable it with the [FN]-key and F2 or something like that or maybe some small switch on the side of your computer. If it get disables with one of these 2 it will most likely cause the same media disconnected "error".
Check your F1-F12 buttons if you see the wireless symbol.
(a lot of people don't know about this so don't laugh :P )

2: Check BIOS, sometimes you can disable it there.

3: Reinstall your drivers. Motherboard, Chipset and the Wireless....

Antonio 02-25-2009 07:19 AM

try:
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.11
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

OR
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

as weird as it sounds, try also setting your IP manually as someone else already suggested

PetMyKitty 02-25-2009 07:26 AM

since you've no doubt made millions in porn like everyone else that Posts on GFY

you think i could go a day or a week without my computer LOL. my computer is like my clothes or glasses.. I put it beside me when I got to sleep and pick it up when I wake.

its fixed anyways.. I downloaded the driver for my wireless card from sony website, even thou I had the exact same driver installed from win7 update and even thou it was working for 1 month.. installed that and my wireless light came on.. but as I said earlier I tried without the wireless, even disabled the driver when only using the wire to connect and still nothing..

I than ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew and voilia it WORKS

I also did the ipconfig shit when disabling the wireless card and using the wire.

possibly there was some kinda conflict with the 2.. I am still not sure.

Sosa 02-25-2009 07:47 AM
