Is there any way to know how much $$ a site makes?

I compete against a microniche dating site that has 200k members, but many are free members. I'm dying to know how much money they make because I want to know what the potential is for me to earn. And i want to know the % of paying members they get.

Is there any way to find out? they dont have an affiliate program so I cant just ask them, plus they know I compete with them and they hate me anyways lol.

I just want to know so bad how much they make. theres got to be a way to find out

SBJ 02-22-2009 11:41 PM

there is no money in dating or porn :winkwink:

chupachups 02-22-2009 11:41 PM

Not unless you can talk to their processor ;) But ask someone who knows the niche very well....

LiveDose 02-22-2009 11:41 PM

Yes, you would have to bribe someone at the company that runs the site who's in the know or someone at the processing company.

Good luck.

teh ghey 02-22-2009 11:44 PM

Id happily pay $500 for someone to tell me how much $$ my competitor makes

bdld 02-22-2009 11:50 PM

mind your own business and concentrate on your own business.

If I know what the potential is it'll make me work harder.
I need to know if theres is a lot of money potential in this or if im pumping a dry well

Nicky 02-22-2009 11:57 PM

If you're a competitor shouldn't you be able to make a educated guess your self? If you want exact numbers you need inside info from billing company or someone from the site it self. I have to agree with bdld though....

Its just a motivator to me.
If you were going to climb a mountain, wouldnt you work harder to do the job if you knew there was a million dolalr prize on top of the mountain, instead of being told there is a secret prize and you dont know what it is?

if I know what the $$ potential is I'd be more open to spending money on advertising and hiring someone without the fear that I wouldnt get it back.

ro8in 02-23-2009 07:28 AM

Ask the same person who told you they have 200k members

HorseShit 02-23-2009 07:34 AM

this guy has no clue

Iron Fist 02-23-2009 07:37 AM

Hey Program Owners..... can you quickly tell me how many paying members you have and show me all the referring URLS of those sales? Just want to know so I can see if this will motivate me to work harder....

alexa - gfy posts ÷ google serp position for main keyword = how much a site makes.

Hard work...is the key :2 cents:

rayadp05 02-23-2009 01:57 PM

I don't believe there is any way how you would be able to find out that information since it is confidential information. You cannot call Visa to find out how much your neighbors credit card balance is....same thing with trying to find out how much a webmaster makes. However, if you check the sites rank on http://www.alexa.com, that will tell you how much traffic the site is getting but you will not be able to find out how much $$$ the site generates through alexa.

The lower the alexa rank, the more traffic the site is getting...and in most cases, the more traffic a paysite generates, the more $$$ they are generating. But yeah, there is no way of actually finding out the amount of $$$ the site makes unless someone at the processing company gives out this information and if they were to get caught doing this, there would be a very strong possibility of them losing their job.

My advice is to not be so concerned with what another webmaster is making but be concerned with what you are making.

Sebastian Sands 02-23-2009 02:07 PM

Epass me $500 and I will tell you how much they are making. Minimum

tiger 02-23-2009 04:46 PM

You can pay me 500 I will tell you how much they make.

*Accuracy of information is not guaranteed. :)

RevTKS69 02-23-2009 07:10 PM

Ask them

If it is a privately held company, ask the owner. You'd be surprised at how many people will give you 'ballpark' numbers...or he/she may tell you what to go do with yourself.

If it is a publicly held company, they have to file quarterly reports which will contain revenue figures.

...or you can send me the $500 and I will get the information for you :pimp

YellowDude 02-23-2009 07:16 PM

Depends on the program but nobody will say how much they make. In The Netherlands you can ask the chamber of commerce the latests balance of a company.

I have a site that makes $2k/mo and it says it's only worth $800. Although it's not porn and it's really targetted traffic.

What does that website measure exactly?

That's incorrect. This is not 1990 anymore. Alexa is innacurate and is no indication whatsoever of any sites real traffic.

What Alexa shows, is NOT THE WEBSITES TRAFFIC, but the how much traffic that site has of those with the Alexa toolbar installed.

Now, consider this.. which group of people are most likely to have the Alexa toolbar installed? Webmasters.

Alexa does not count any of the traffic other than those whom are using the Alexa toolbar.

Doctor Dre 02-23-2009 09:27 PM

If someone is in a microniche and they have 200k fre members they are making a shitload.

I like viking rune stones myself. They give a slightly more accurate reading.

Once again, you're making another fucking dumb post.

Alexa is much smarter then that now, they have many ways to mesure the traffic. The lower you are the more chances of miss calculations there are.

It's so close to the reality between us and our competitors, it's really accurate nowdays.

PAR 02-23-2009 09:49 PM

if you have to ask.. you have more work to do on your own sites..

ExLust 02-23-2009 10:48 PM

Since you think you're such a fucking know it all, explain to me how a -1K per day site ranks 403 in Alexa while one over 5K ranks somewhere in six figure range?

EscortBiz 02-24-2009 12:25 AM

200k members in a micro niche lol

and for the record the ILTP trick always works to get data like that

JamesK 02-24-2009 12:38 AM

they make $84k a month on average

seeandsee 02-24-2009 05:37 AM

Thats something I would like to know as well. I checked a couple of my paysites and it lists each of them in the 70 grand area which seems about right if your basing on yearly income, which they have no idea about in the first place.
