you=retard.

tony286 02-22-2009 08:25 PM

i like jack but he basically played jack with makeup on.

pimplink 02-22-2009 08:29 PM

whatever he is.. i like jack very much :)

candyflip 02-22-2009 08:56 PM

Watch the movie again and it's really not the masterpiece that people like to make it out to be.

Every single other Tim Burton movie has held up over time. Batman does not.

I loved it and Jack as the Joker when I was an 12 year old kid. There really is no comparison for me, the new vision and characters are a much better fit.

Deej 02-22-2009 09:02 PM

Do we really have to have two of the same thread?

I think it's actually more than that. But you know how it goes. :1orglaugh

LiveDose 02-22-2009 09:04 PM

I will say that Jack Nicholson is in a league all his own. He's a fucking psycho but an amazing actor.

Kard63 02-22-2009 09:05 PM

Jack IS the best Joker!!!

well i mean currently at the top of the front page..

Its like, "hey i seen this thread so im going to change the names dealing with the two people and call it my own"

seriously?

Young 02-22-2009 09:17 PM

i know the new cool thing to do is take Heath's performance down a couple of notches but let's be serious...the guy nailed the performance and made Jack's performance look campy, dry, and just overall retarded. You can argue that's what the Joker is about and that's how Jack played him but I'd take Heath's Joker over Jack's any day.

cykoe6 02-22-2009 09:38 PM

False. I wanted to hate Ledger's Joker because I never liked the guy....... but it was without a doubt a triumph. The rest of the movie does not live up to Ledger's performance unfortunately.

Fact: the opinion of an outcast who returns just to rile the masses is hardly a fact at all.

Heath didn't make Jack's performance look campy, the director of the original Batman did.

It's like trying to compare the film adaptation of the Darkman graphic novel to the Sin City one.

gideongallery 02-23-2009 04:05 PM

the absolute best joker is mark hamil
yes he only does the voice for the character in the cartoon but it is best joker version on the screen.

billywatson 02-23-2009 04:05 PM

Fiction.

Heath owned that role.

jack played a more comical version, heath a more dark one, hard to really compare them, they both did a good job

madm1k3 02-23-2009 06:03 PM

Jack was so much better, Heath played the Joker with no sense of humor.

Dark Night was too fucking long and if Heath hadn't of died no one would of considered him for an oscar

Janak 02-23-2009 06:08 PM

I always found it funny that Cesar Romero was so attached to his 'stache that he refused to shave it off for roles, and got them to makeup over it when he played the Joker.

It's not subtle, either. In all the 60s batman shows he looks like he has a furry white caterpillar above his lip.

BardMan 02-24-2009 08:33 AM

no really... Heath did a great job. Both Jokers were entirely different. I loved Jack, and I loved Heath. Heath deserved it, no knock on Jack.

fris 02-24-2009 08:42 AM

heath won an oscar, golden globe, and a sag, not bad for a dead guy

seeandsee 02-24-2009 08:43 AM

they gave it all to him because he is dead

Fletch XXX 02-24-2009 08:45 AM

get a clue, Jack Nicholson played the most ridiculous CLOWN of a joker ever.

Anyone who is a fan of the Joker knows these people are responsible for turning the Joker into a "CLOWN" he was never a clown!!!

Jack Nicholson may be a good actor but he never read a Batman comic in his life and acted NOTHING LIKE THE JOKER CHARACHTER

Jack Nicholson is easily one of my favorite actors of all time becuase of "The Shinning", "Easy Rider", and "As Good as it Gets" ... to name just a few. But Ledger kicked his ass as the Joker. No contest.

the original Joker did not have a sense of humor he was a maniacal KILLER.

a serial killer, not a fucking clown, the people in this thread asking for a joker with "humor" clearly do not know the charachter, nor the story behind what made the charachter who he is.

He didnt use gag and petty tricks, he killed. But thatwas changed when Batman went to Television.

You people need to realize Dark Night is like Batman Movie #11 - the charachters have been changed so much they are nothing liike they were even a couple decades ago, let alone 40+ years ago...

the joker is not a clown... and isnt supposed to be

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joker_(comics) read the part about revisions in 1973.

to make him likable for television he was altered and made from a maniac to a joking petty thief who poses no real threat to batman, and its not the true charachter originally created. That shit is repackaged and sold to you guys who never read the comics.

Scott McD 02-24-2009 08:57 AM

It doesn't really matter anyway does it? People will always have different opinions. Even if one was clearly better than the other, you'd still get the odd person who disagreed. Such is life...

notoldschool 02-24-2009 09:57 AM

I loved both movies when they came out in their respective era, but I love the dark character that Ledger played. The pencil trick will go down as one of my favorite villian killings. That scene alone makes the movie worth watching.

Correct. He is an amazing actor

Brad 02-24-2009 11:06 AM

I'll quote my own post from last week on the matter:

I don't even know how you can compare the two performances when the only similarity in the characters is the name. Personally I think Ledgers Joker was much closer to what I think the joker should be like were he real. That said, when the first batman came out they were trying to appeal to kids more than anything and therefore needed to have a significantly less sinister and dark joker. The only thing you can really compare between the two is the acting, and in that I believe that Ledger did the better job as Nicholson was much more comical than serious in his portrayal. That however, I think is in large part due to the writing and directing.

martinsc 02-24-2009 12:01 PM

no doubt about that!!!!

OverdueNudes 02-24-2009 12:09 PM

Who the hell said Jack Nicholson portrayed the Joker as a clown?

The joker should be menacingly insane but enjoys killing so much that it brings him laughter.
I didn't like the portrayal of the joker in The Dark Knight because he didn't find amusement enough in his work.

Also, the joker's skin is supposed to be dyed white and hair green and lips red. Not have some make-up on that covers scars making him look like a bum.

All in all, Heath's joker wasn't flashy and didn't smile enough.
