The object's velocity has been measured at more than 400,000 kilometres per hour, good evidence say the astronomers that it is the accelerated "debris" of a stellar explosion, or supernova.

How fast is that in a Quarter Mile?

volante 11-18-2002 06:42 PM

Hmm. Black hole, not on this planet, leeching from it's companion. If it's called "Clare" it might be my ex-girlfriend...

Although the black hole is headed roughly in our direction, it is at a "safe" distance, 6,000 to 9,000 light-years away, in the direction of the constellation Scorpius.

And a ton of meteors we don't know about also. Hopefully if it happens one day it will be fast and complete. I'd rather be among the dead than the living if every government, and the world's entire infrastructure, and civilization gets sent back to the stone age to start from scratch if a monster meteor hits. Everyone would be on there own like in the beginning of civilization. It would be total utter chaos. Especially since food and water would be hard hit also. Ever seen what people change into when they aren't able to get the basics we all take for granted? Its not a pretty picture.

My admiration. :1orglaugh That movie is my all-time favorite. If Vasquez were a real woman, I'd have married her. I'd happily play femme to her butch anytime. :Graucho

I had the answer as well but someone beat me to it. I just bought all 4 Alien movies on DVD. I'm not too keen on #4 but it had a few decent scenes.
#2 kicks ass.
