Domain expired, re-reged next day, when will it come back online?

I foolishly let a domain I had registered at DomainNameSystems expire on Feb. 18th, then I successfully re-registered it on Feb. 19th. But it is still not back online today on the 21st? I checked from multiple computers, and only see a "Your domain has expired" html page when I type the url in a browser? Isn't it supposed to just come back online on it's own pretty quickly or do I have to contact the domain registrar?

might have to go in and make sure the DNS is set correctly

holy shit, why are you using DomainNameSystems?

wow...I didn't think anyone with half a brain used them

HorseShit 02-21-2009 04:33 PM

well, you foolishly are using DomainNameSystems so whatever happens is your own fault

That is a good suggestion but I just checked and the DNS is pointing to the right place. Figured that the site would come back online by now after two days. Grr...

I have more domains at Moniker, but I have a bunch of old ones still at DNS that I have to transfer over at some point anyway. I can't transfer this one I just re-registered for a while from what I understand ,unfortunately. Maybe I'll contact my rep and see if I can get a deal on the other forty-something domains in the meantime.

Site just came back online, I think because i just went into the registrar and saved the "changes" (same info actually) to the DNS info. Crisis averted.

Don't hate on godaddy guys. (GFY people hate gdaddy):1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

But godaddy gives you like over 45 days after the expiration date to register it again...or don't do anything and it gets cancelled. Even on a cancelled domain I have pages still up. Every couple of days they send you email reminders...telling you to renew...and when you renew from these emails you also get a deeper discount. I just renewed 3 .coms today at around $7.50 each.

What I am fucking pissed about is a Japan domain name that I have been putting off for 6 months...I went to buy it today...and found it was registered at the end of January...and this was going to be a mainstream site that I was going to develope....but fuck it I have 1,800 more domains...and I only plan on keeping around 600.

My nameserver domain is hosted with Namecheap so any domains I have with Namecheap show up instantly.

Good luck!

Saving changes on the domains I still have over there manually never worked. I always had to put in a support ticket.

My advice: move all your domains that still reside there away ASAP!

Oh and you're lucky no one bought it at auction.
