Gallery Software/Thumbnail creator/resizer

I am trying to find a piece of software I saw a while ago that let me point the program at a directory and set the thumbnail size i wanted to create then move a box around the image and make quick thumbnails.

What do you guys use?

It would have worked just would have to setup a port on the router to direct outside traffic to that box and have had apache listen on that port then setup a subdomain to point to that IP, but i put it on a VPS.
