Referral rates for webcam models?

I run a webcam studio where I take 10% from my girl's earnings. At the end of the week, it doesn't add up to much, but in my experience of being a webcam model, it is what I think is fair.
I have had a number of people contact me lately, trying to refer girls to my studio, and they always ask me "what can you give me as a referral fee?" Well, I know I can't give them a set price before the girls even start working, cause lots of girls flake or won't make up the amount that I am paying out to get them. I have told a couple of them "We can split the 10% in a way you think is fair for both of us, but unless these girls work very hard or you have several, it won't be much $"
In your opinion, what would be a FAIR referral rate for people sending me models? Studio owners, how do you handle situations like this?

Fuck that, referrer gets a free private show. Otherwise refer them to other options [not many].

That's what I was thinking, or maybe we can split the 10% for the first 4 weeks she works or something like that.. in the end, NOBODY is going to get rich off of 1 webcam model. If the girl makes $1000 her 1st week, that's $100 we are somehow splitting..

Thanx SAC!! ;)

I think if I were you I would say "okay I'll pay you $X after your girl brings in a total of $X." I would not offer a percentage or anything like that... you are doing the real work, take the money you have worked hard for.

spunky99 02-19-2009 05:45 PM

set a min amount of work the girl has to do in order for the person who referred them to get any sort of fee

AaliyahLove 02-19-2009 06:03 PM

Spunky and Sly, thanx, I think you 2 are right. Now I just have to figure specific #'s and roll with it :)

Bingo^ Most people don't know how hard it is to keep a chathost online and working regularly. Another issue is the models might just go out on their own. You are in a sensitive situation and you need to keep the models happy. I would tell these people how hard this is and the turn over is high. Set up goals for your referrals and if their models reach the goal split some of the money. Honestly I wouldn't pay more than 2%. lol You are doing all the work, paying for all the bandwidth, dealing with all the drama, filling out schedules etc etc etc.
You aught to give me a buzz. I know of a good site that will pay you a good percent depending on what type of models you have. You can choose the price per minute and traffic is going up up up.
Good luck!!

I know there's guys looking into making money by referring webcam models. I got this question already a few times now.. In general my awnser is just that referring models is not a good business. Most webcam models find their way to your cam site anyway and the biggest problem is you never know the value of a model up front. Some make $10 000 and some make $100. Also you never know how long a model will stay.. Some stay online for months and some stay less then a day. Unless you get them to work on a steady contract (which is kind of undoable with webcam models) its really hard to say.

Your probally better off using 5% of your 10% to spend on advertising and finding the models yourself then having someone do it for you on comission..

You own the studio and you take 10%? Are you models paid 1099 or W2? how the hell do you pay taxes?

My thoughts exactly.

DutchTeenCash 02-20-2009 10:51 AM

10 is way way too little

after taxes your costs will be higher then the earnings for sure

like said get them to do work first for a certain amount of time/money then the fee payout

WiredGuy 02-20-2009 11:04 AM

Why not offer them a flat rate instead so you can keep the percentage over time. After the model makes $x in earnings, then the referrer gets a flat rate. Make it high so its appealing. For example, once the model makes $2000, then the referrer gets a flat rate of $200. Works out to about 10% of the first check instead of ongoing payments and makes accounting easier.

Works out better for you in the long run too since you keep that percentage over time.

We get 40%, the site takes 60%. I am able to set my own rates per model, so I take 10 and she takes 30. I pay my taxes just like anyone else would.

That is what a lot of the webcam sites offer. Usually $100 per referral.
