Why is GoDaddy charging European VAT?
Do they have a business presence in Europe now or something? I've tried searching eu databases for "GoDaddy" but came up with nothing....
Or is this just an illegal scam to make more money? |
is that so?? i will surely make some research too..
|
They have that for a reason.

If they sell to a EU citizen, they have to, unless the buyer has a valid VAT number. In fact, all US companies are obligated to. I guess many simply "forget" because there are no repercussions if they don't.

I doubt they are charging VAT and not paying it. Thats called fraud.

"There is talk that the EU is going to be going after companies 'more aggresively' that owe them VAT in the near future." I think there are a lot of US based firms in for a shock :) |

The other thing to point out is that the US company doesn't necessarily have to have a business presence in the EU I don't think. US companies still owe the EU VAT if they sell to surfers in those countries. |
