What the hell is this crap?
 

Got this from another board, some guy recieved this letter:


It was from a company called Acacia who claims to have a patent on ALL digital audio and video streamed or downloaded over the internet.
They are saying every webmaster is going to have to pay them a royalty if they offer video clips mpg, avi etc. that are available for download or streamed.
Parts of the letter said
It specifically mentioned adult websites are being targeted in the letter. They claim to have patents us and international "which cover the transmission and receipt of digital audio and/or video content via various means, including the internet." ....'you must return the signed License Agreements and initial royalty payment to Acacia by December 31, 2002"

Section 3.1 states that royalties are based on your gross sales
$1 to 50,000 owe 1,500
50,0001 to 100,000 owe 3,000
100,001 to 250,000 owe 5,000
250,001 to 500,000 owe 10,000
500,001 to 1,000,000 owe 20,000
etc. it doubles each time after that.

Anyone know anything about this?
