Favorite Beer

I love Stella Artois, Nothing Like A Ice Cold Stella. From Belgium.I haven't touched a canadian beer in years. And American beer ...forget it, its compared to our light beer with only a measly 4%...womans beer..:glugglug .Not bashing our American Brothers but sorry your beer sucks.

Backov 11-17-2002 08:45 PM

Stella is what they export from Belgium to make sure the beer tourists don't come there and take the actual GOOD Belgian beer.

Stella is piss. Try some real Belgian beer.

Cheers,
Backov

C_U_Next_Tuesday 11-17-2002 08:46 PM

do they still make "duvel"? It's a great belgium ale that would get you fucked up on a 4 pack

Spunky 11-17-2002 08:47 PM

Whats a good Belgium Beer?... if thats piss it must be from the Gods...Whats a better import?

frankfortuna 11-17-2002 08:48 PM

I like crappy beers such as Modelo and Sol.

Morgan 11-17-2002 08:48 PM

There are plenty of beers made in USA that have MUCH MUCH more than 4%. Budwieser, coors, miller, etc.. all have low alcohol content but who drinks those beers anyhow?

Sierra Nevada's pale ale is one of my top 3 fav. beers and is made here.

Morgan 11-17-2002 08:50 PM

BTW.... Stella is a woman's beer! 5.2% alcohol??? hahaha. .. . funny stuff. Tastes good, I will give you that much. All show no go just wont cut it for me though.

Spunky 11-17-2002 08:51 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought American beer is only like 4 to 4.5% and In Canada you can get Miller ,Bud,Coors and it is brewed to 5%

Backov 11-17-2002 09:21 PM

They do still brew Duvel, it's a pretty good beer, but fuck does it have a kick. Also I believe Campus is a belgian. When I lived in France I drank supermarket Belgian that kicked the crap out of Stella..

Seriously dude, go down to a good pub with lots of imports and try some other Belgians.

Cheers,
Backov

Quit trying to be a bunch of beer snobs.

Most of you couldn't tell a Pabst Blue Ribbon from a Kronenburg from a Hofbrauhaus Munich.

Top 5 Beers by choice (I am a bit biased).

1. Hofbrauhaus Munich
2. Rolling Rock
3. Guinness
4. Newcastle Brown
5. Bells Oberon (from Kalamazoo, Michigan).

Cheers!

Light beer is ghey.

Drink a real fucking beer, not beer flavoured water.

Auslander 11-17-2002 09:57 PM

To be honest, we have been drinking the shit out of Pabst, Schlitz, Blatz, Red White & Blue, Goebel, Altes...

They are a SHIT load better than Bud Light, Miller, etc...they just have the stigma of being an "old man's beer"...

bawdy 11-17-2002 10:09 PM

VB as a general pub beer and Asahi as far as imported beers go :glugglug

1) Best beer is Moylan's Wheat Berry Brew, or Moylan's Kiltlifter.
Restaurant microbrewery in Novato, CA.
2) Delirium Tremens from the Hughye brewery in Belgium.
3) Young's Double Chocolate Stout (never buy a keg of this)
4) Hoegarden
5) Guinness
6) I'm drinking Saranac right now. It isn't bad.

I'm English, and I've spent the last year living in the US. After having put up with the shite they call "beer" over here, I'd kill for a pint of Stella... I'm just glad all the Irish immigrants had the sense to introduce Guinness...

Sunshine McGillicutty 11-17-2002 11:34 PM

Chimay
Boddingtons
Bass
Gordon Biersch
Sam Adams Summer & Winter ales

NetRodent 11-17-2002 11:39 PM

The only drink two beers with any degree of regularity.

Tuborg (denmark)
Sapporo (Japan)

Sunshine McGillicutty 11-17-2002 11:41 PM

Anyone had Sam Adams Triple Bock? Its around 17% alcohol. I haven't been able to find it in stores.

Americans would drink cats piss if the alcohol content was high enough.

You're halfway there with Budweiser :thumbsup

salsbury 11-17-2002 11:47 PM

presently, my favorite beer is the IPA at six arms a few blocks from my place. yummy. (they brew it themselves, i'm told they're a small chain.)

Turboface 11-17-2002 11:47 PM

In the big scheme of things, American beer does suck. I don't understand why either.

The prob with getting imports is that sometimes the alcohol content is lowered when being exported here.

The same goes for hard alcohol - I hear that the Yagermeister you get in Sweden (or where ever it's from) has opium in it. The stuff we get here in the states doesn't.

No, but I've heard from some beer critic/writer type I respect that it's a fantastic brew - I've been meaning to try it.

Volante,

I'm a pommy as well, my favorites are generally English, I was just pissing on Stella.. I do agree that compared to anything Anheuser Busch makes it's heaven.

Did everyone here know that Busch once called beer "That swill"? He hated beer. It shows in his products to this day.

That said, there are a ton of fine microbrews in the US, and like I said, I've even heard good things about Sam Adams..

Cheers,
Backov
