Domain name /URL masking ?

I know that some regestration services offer the option of domain name masking...Howevere,
s it also possible to mask a domain name via some
code inserted into the URL of each page ?

Convert the quad dot to binary and then encode into
decimal.

IE www.gofuckyourself.com is 66.60.188.13

66 = 01000010
60 = 00111100
188 = 10111100
13 = 00001101

01000010001111001011110000001101

over to decimal = 1111276557

http://1111276557 is www.gofuckyourself.com ,
now mind you, THIS DOES NOT WORK on virtual hosts.
ONLY on dedicated hosts.

This method was first published in 2600 fall 2000 issue.

I first came across this several years ago. Someone had put up a page with JavaScript on it to do the conversions. Pretty cool

what's the point? anybody who is a spam narc knows how to decode those URL's. None of those tricks help. Find a mail friendly host who will cover your ass. It will cost you tho.

Most likely not for spamming, he likely wants to mask
a dialer download. Nobody would bother masking for
a spam, the ramifications aren't that great.

Now autodownloading dialers, Mr. FTC might want to
track you down. (ofcoarse they know this trick well,
what you want is nested CNAME on a few dns servers)

Thanks for the replies but in all honesty, they have just gone tottally over my head...
We all gotta learn somewhere and I'm not one tobe afraid of admitting to my ignorance :-)
Your a bloddy suspicious bunch here arnt you ? lol
Its actually not for spamming. Much less sinister, im afraid...
Take for a perfect example, a site Im currently busy with...

www.cornishchris.co.uk
Well, If you go there, you will see in the address bar...
http://www.thatguyinthecorner.co.uk/...ishChriscouk//
Anyway, Isimply wondered if I could 'mask'the originating address, and have it just say...
"www.CornishChris.co.uk' despite which page your on...
I know It will eventually be moved to its own space, but I wondered if it was possible, with some simple code in the pages...

Thats all..
Never mind, tah anyway :)

Hey, that's really simple to achieve.

Just create an index.htm that has 1 frame with 100% width and height.

Then load your site in this frame.

Think you owe me a drink by now...

yeah hehe.. just open the page in a frame.. and that address will remain in the address bar throughout the browser session... but they can still navigate the site perfectly fine. Unless the surfers browser doesnt support frames. then you are fucked.
