Why is US health insurance so expensive?

I have an employee in the US, awesome guy who really does some good work, and was toying with giving him health insurance over there, but what the fuck is up with the prices of health insurance over there ???! At least 10x what I pay here.

Do Americans get sick more often than the rest of the world or something?

We have "free" health care in the UK but i pay for private anyway which is $100/month. How much is it in America?

Because USA health insurance is one of the worst in the world... USA is a nazi country but ruled by Jew Zionists that only want money.

In any decent country you don't have to pay for all the extras...

In USA you pay 500 bucks for one health insurance and you have to pay A LOT of extras...

Only those who are rich can have a decent health in USA... for example program owners that live off webmasters work and make 50k per month, don't care about paying 5000 dollars for a dental implant or 600 bucks for a root canal, that gets 100% covered in any decent country by your health insurance.

A really big problem here is how the massive illegal Mexican population seeks medical care.

Few of them have their own doctor, so they go to the expensive ER instead. They don't pay the bill either.

So the hospitals have to pass the cost of treating the illegals onto someone, and it's legal Americans and their insurers.

The US health system is joke ran by a bunch of greedy fuktards, that's why.

Juicy D. Links 02-11-2009 05:05 AM

we all have syphllis thats why it cost so much

I do agree. Here in France I pay 85 euro per mo which includes social security and health... Recent skiing accident has amounted hospital and dental bills so far of 11k euro which has so far been covered at 100%. When I was in the US I paid $110/mo which was purely medical insurance and I was always having to make copays...

james_clickmemedia 02-11-2009 05:53 AM

thats not an easy question to answer. I agree it's over priced.
The worst thing is when you have a good ppo plan but still have to pay $2000 out of pocket in Jan, as that is your deductable.

I have lived in the UK & US and both systems have their problems but I think the UK one suits me better. I would use the national health service and if I needed something that was not an emergency and there was a waiting list, I would go private to get it done..

The real question should be why is health care so expensive. The answer because of insurance/welfare. Then that ups the costs of the insurance, then they up the price of health care, then they up the price of insurance, then they up the price of health care... and so on.

Hmm .. interesting responses.

I know that the few times I have had to buy medication over there ... the cost has been so much higher than in Australia, but still .. its confusing.

HorseShit 02-11-2009 06:03 AM

yes, the health care system is fucked and has been for years

Allformyspace 02-11-2009 06:28 AM

move to europe where you dont pay for health care as its your constitutional right and in most of the contries the system works even better than in the US.

I broke my leg in Italy, i was operated on (3 nails put in the bone), had 5 specialistic doctor visits, fisio therapy for 3 months the had the nails took out. All for 200 euros, that the helthcare system calls a 2% contribution to the government expense to pay for all that was done to you.

I broke a finger in 2004 waited 8 hours in an emergency room in Florida, had 1 xray and they bandaged me up sent me home saying "we dont know if its broke you will have to come back in the morning, there are no doctors available to read you xray right now"
